Wholesale-Engines
Wholesale-Engines Eric Mead Junk Builders Goose Creek, South Carolina
11th of Apr, 2011 by User489794
I own a service center in PA. Customer brought his 77 Corvette in with a blown engine. He found an engine from Wholesale-Engines. They needed to speak to me to determine which side of the engine the dip stick was on, right or left. At that time I spoke to Eric Mead from Wholesale-engines and told him it was in fact it was a right side. The engine shows up and I have 2 dip sticks, one on the left and one on the right. There was never such an engine made with duel dip sticks. So upon inspection of the 2 dip sticks, found that what Eric Mead and his clowns did was glued on the right side dip stick mount. I do have pictures of this. After further inspection of the engine, I found that #7 connecting rod was in the #2 cylinder and #1 connecting rod in the #8 cylinder. Also after further inspection, I found a hole in the #7 cylinder, also the crankshaft neck has 12 holes in it. I checked the bore of this engine, he has the piston stamped at .40, I measured the cylinder wall at 4.037. Lifter bore was reamed out so far, you could move the lifter around in the bore. The block was never decked. The block also had major signs of a blown head gasket around the #6 cylinder and deep pitting from water damage on the block. I spoke to Eric Mead again after finding all these findings and he informed me they do not even have glue in the garage or even in the offices, when I told him of the second dip stick being glued on the right side of the engine. He informed me they have the highest standards in quality control and that they have never, nor would they ever have a come back. I sent him all the pictures of the major defects and I get an email from him that all the above mentioned defects is acceptable and I am making a mountain out of a mole hill. He would have no problem putting this engine in his car. The point is do not deal with this guy, he is nothing but a scam artist and the warrenty that is offered is not worth the paper it is written on. Do yourself a favor and before you get involved and spend your hard earned money, please do your homework and check out the company you are thinking about buying an engine from. My customer still does not have any resolution to his problem yet. All Eric Mead is worried about is calling me and idiot and stupid, I have been in the automotive field for over 30 years, I am ASE certified and I know BS and I do know my engines. Hope this have helped someone and prevented you from the frustrations we are going through with this scam artist and robber.
