As a former auto sevice tech employed by whitehall auto sales i can inform the general public of several ripoff scams pulled on poor souls seeking reliable transportation from this car lot. First, i'll explain how whitehall auto sales works their 50/50 parts and labor warranty. most shops charge list price for parts which is a normal and acceptable practice. most shops use a labor guide like mitchell, or alldata to calculate cost in labor for doing a job. Here is where the ripoff comes in, whitehall auto sales charges 2x the list price. example. ( list price $40.00. his cost $20.00. your cost $80.00) this scam also applies to the labor cost of repairing the vehicle. if the labor guide calls for 3Hrs of labor it is bumped up to five or six Hrs of labor with a big story on how hard the vehicle was to repair to justyfi the cost. So there is really no 50/50 warranty as implied, and the vehicle has to be repaired at their facility or you have no warranty. it would be cheaper to have the vehicle repaired at a local repair shop such as pep boys or strauss auto. ripoff #2 most of these vehicle come with check engine lights on, air bag lights on and tracktion control lights on. these warning indicators are turned off prior to sale because of the cost of repairing the vehicles which have cost several hundreds of dollars to the poor souls who baught these vehicles not knowing the warning indicator lights where turned off prior to purchase. ripoff#3 if you purchase a vehicle with no inspection or emission they tell you you have ten days to have it taken care of however once you sign that contract you are hit with that 50/50 scam leaving you assed out of possably hundreds of dollars in repaires. Now you may ask your self why dont they inspect the vehicle? Well, whitehall auto sales has recently lost their inspection and emission licences to do so. if you purchase a vehicle already inspected but only has a few months left on the sticker in question it would be wise to have a different shop check out the vehicle before purchase because most of these vehicles come from auction where illegal stickers are slaped on them. Scam #4 IF YOU DONT HAVE THE MONIES TO REPAIR THESE VEHICLES THE OWNER WILL SOME TIME LET YOU ADD IT TO YOUR PAYMENTS AT THE COST OF 25% PERCENT OVER THE COURSE OF THE TIME IT TAKES YOU TO PAY IT OFF.
