Westgate Resorts Park City |
Time Share Scam / Poor Customer Service and Care |

While in Park City a salesman from Westgate Resorts approached me and my wife and asked if we would like to stay at the Westgate Resort in Park City for only $60 for 2 nights. After talking to the salesman we found out that we could receive the deal if we promised to go through their timeshare seminar which would last no more than 90 minutes. He informed us that there would be no obligation to buy and that if we told them that we were not interested they wouldn't even make us sit through the entire process.
We booked our stay the next year. My little 6 year old has type one diabetes and the night before we were going to check out we had a problem with her pump. She ended up with an extremely high blood glucose of over 500, and because of this she became very sick, to the point she was vomiting.
Before checking out I went to the front desk and asked them if I could take the tour by myself because my wife was needing to take care of my little girl. They told me that they could not give me the voucher unless my wife and I both went through the tour. So I had to call my wife and have her come down with my sick little girl.
They wouldn't allow my diabetic little girl to stay with us during the tour they made us take her to the day care facility. We had to explain the situation to the day care facility and the people who worked there were not trained to deal with diabetes. We asked them just to keep checking her blood glucose every 30 minutes to ensure that her blood sugar levels didn't drop to low, and that if her blood glucose got below 100 that they needed to call us.
So we started the tour with a fairly pushy but bearable salesman. he took us on a tour of the facility which we had already seen because we had been there the last two nights. We informed him of this but he still insisted on showing us the entire tour. He answered most of our questions but avoided the more substantial and pertinent questions.
Because he made us tour the entire place it took about an hour with him. During which we informed him that we were really not interested, but he continued his sales pitch. Finally when he was done and we informed him of that we were not interested he told us that we had to speak to someone else to receive the vouchers so that we could check out without being charged more.
So then came the second salesman. This salesman was very pushy and to be honest quite rude. He looked like one of those stereotypical car salesman that they show on tv. We informed him right away that we were not interested but he continued to try and sale us over and over saying that he was offering us the best deal possible, but when we said that we were not interested he would come up with an even cheaper deal.
He would not leave us alone. Finally when he realized we were not interested he said that we had to speak with someone else so that we could receive the vouchers. So then came the third salesman. Instead of trying to sell us completely on the time share he tried to sell us on the idea of coming back the next year at an outrageous price. So we had to try and convince him that we didn't want anything and that were were not interested. He was very rude, but he finally allowed us to receive the vouchers.
When all was said and done 3 hours had passed by not the hour and half. During that time we had not heard anything from the day care about my little girl. When I went to pick her up her blood glucose was down in the 50's which is very dangerous. She could have gone into a coma or started having seizures.
Overall the sales guys were very pushy and some of the quite rude. They were very inconsiderate of our situation and in the end could have put my little girls life in danger. It was one of the worst experiences I have had at any hotel or resort. |

I had a similar experience where I paid for a couple of nights and were told to call later to book the hotel. They never had the dates that I wanted or needed, and they refused to give me a refund since I never used the getaway.
From reading the experience above I am glad that I didn't go. |
