Walmart Stores, Inc. Walmart Re-sells Damaged Items Oakland, Tennessee |
5th of Jun, 2011 by User636889 |
Sunday, May 29th my boyfriend and I went into Wal-Mart and purchased a 50" inch plasma TV from the display that we saw. The gentleman assisting us went into the back room and brought out a TV in a brand new box. We brought the TV home, assembled the stand and noticed the buttons were on the side, as oppose to the bottom like the display showed. When we plugged it up, the TV would turn on for a few seconds then off on it's own. This happened over and over until we manually turned it off. The next day my boyfriend brought the TV back to exchange for a new one, and the assistant manager informed him that the serial number on the TV did not match the serial number on the receipt. This meant that we were sold a used, damaged TV in a brand new box. When we explained to the assistant manager that this had happened, he told us he would investigate the matter and call us. That same day he informed us that he had been able to track down the receipt for when the damaged TV was originally purchased in 2009, and that he would have to call us on Tuesday, May 31st. On Tuesday around noon, I spoke with him and he told me that he was waiting for his market manager to e-mail him back. Around 4:00p he called me back and told me that they had followed procedure and there was nothing they could do. When my boyfriend heard this news, he called the corporate number and spoke with the market manager, Tarous Rice, who had not heard more than a mention of our situation, much less made a decision on it. He told us he would handle the management at the store, and he would begin an investigation with daily updates. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday he called my boyfriend each day at 7:00p with no news, but contact as promised. Saturday night he received no phone call, nor a phone call in response to the voice mail my boyfriend left Saturday night. No call on Sunday either. Today, June 6th, at 2:17p Mr. Rice called for the final time to tell my boyfriend that they have followed protocol and that there was nothing more that they could do for us. At 6:52p today, he called Mr. Rice back to ask him for his manager's full name and number, which he refused to give to him. We have since then found his manager's full name and how we can contact him tomorrow morning. |
