walgreens photo restoration scam bellevue, Tennessee |
14th of Jun, 2011 by User215185 |
Just to let everyone know the photo restoration service at walgreens is a scam. I took in some old photos to have restored and all tey did was inlarge them and lighten them. They wanted to charge $39 for this. The photos were not improved in any way. They also claimed the photos are sent via internet to a company who restores them but this is also not true. They scanned it to themselves and printed the pics right there in the store. This became obvious when not a single employee knew how the processed really worked and couldn't tell me where the photos were sent or who does their restoration. Surely Walgreens doesn't keep all their employees in the dark. |

I would like to advise AGAINST the digital version of this service. Scanned a photo that need the work done, uploaded it to my walgreen's photo album then went back to the photo restoration part of the photo website when I got there the only selection was "Restore and Colorized" didn't (still do not) need that. But then I noticed there is a drop down box that lets you see what other types of restorations.
Restore to Black and White
Restore to Original Color (the one I wanted but it not selectable)
Restore to Sepia
Restore Colorize (the only selection they have)
Unfortunately I was stuck with just that one option. It took them less than 24 hours to restore the photo. At 9:51 am via my photo account. At first glance the discoloration was gone some of the scratches were too, except for on the shirt of a family member.
The colors, oh gosh how horrible it turned out; everything was faded discolored and washed out. Only positive thing is I still have my original copy without it being lost. I was and still am disheartened by it because it was suppose to be a gift for my mom to have in a presentable condition...
My lesson is to pay 39.00 or more and get a professional website to get it done instead. |
