VMS Alarms vmsalarms.com deceptive marketing tactics and rude pushy sales people Providence, Rhode Island |

VMS Alarms uses a telemarketing ploy such as asking people if they have fire alarms and if you do they call you back like you won something. They offer you a free security system valued at over $1,200 with free installation. Once you ask what the catch is they say, all you need to do is pay the monthly service fee for monitoring. I wanted to check things out so I told the telemarketer to let me talk to my husband first when he got home. She immediately said she would have a "technician" call me. When I asked what for, she said to answer any questions I had. I asked why I needed a technician for that when she explained everything already. She did not have a good answer. I wanted to confirm it was not going to be a sales person calling, she said no. 30 seconds later, the phone rang again. This time it was the "technician". I proceeded to tell him the same thing I told her, my husband is not home. He said "can you get him on three way"? I said very sternly, no. He then asked "Do you have a monitored security sytem already"? I said only a monitored fire alarm". Next he said with a very arogantly and condescending tone, "Don't you think a monitored security system is better than not having one at all"?. That was the end of my patience. I told him nicely but firmly, I am not interested in your services. If there is one thing I know, it's that a rude salesmen will never sell anything, they push it on you instead. Be weary of this company. Their tactics are sneaky. They aren't selling what they are using as bait to get you to listen and these aren't technician's that live in another state calling you they are hard core salesman, out for themselves at any and all costs. Be careful. |

I am in Westchester NY and have a little bit the same experience as the person from RI:
Salesperson called me. He did not have any answers to my questions. Says the technician will call me back to answer all my questions. I even questioned how they got my number as I am on a national do-not-call list. He did not know...
Technician called me and read the script. Could not really answer any of my questions just kept on reading the script. Then said 'your current [security system] contract expires on May 1st" When I asked how he knew, he said I had told him that (I know i had not said a word as I did not know that). After my questioning, he said it is not economical for me to break the contract right now. "I am just looking after your economical interest." Then he wished me well and hang up. |
