Vital Essentials has ripped me off and caused my dog health problems. I purchased a bag of Frozen Raw Beef Patties directly from them as there was not a retail store close by to me. At first I was very excited to try this new brand out. I thawed a patty for my dog and I went to slice it up for him so it wasn't in one big chunk. I noticed there were huge chunks of pure fat in the patty. I was very upset about this and was not about to feed it to my dog. Anybody feeding raw to their pet knows fat is important but there should not be huge chunks of it in your food. I figured this was just one patty that happened to be bad. I thawed the rest of them so I could check them, well go figure, they all had huge chunks of pure fat. There didn't even seem to be much meat, just lots and lots of fat chunks. I called the number that I found on the vital essentials bag and asked for the quality assurance department. I was told they don't have one!!! What kind of company doesn't have a QA department? So I asked to speak with a manager and it took about two days for one to get back to me. I explained my situation and they refused to compensate me without pictures for proof that these patties were mostly pure fat. I threw the stuff out, I wasn't going to keep it. The most they offered me was to send me a new bag (NOT for free, but at a discounted rate). I accepted the offer since my dogs were now foodless and needed the food. I received the new bag of food and after reading it over I saw the expiration date was the very next day!!! So that is apparently why they offered a discounted bag, because it was about to go bad, not because the first batch was fatty and bad. I was not about to risk my dogs being sick so I called and wanted to send the bag back and told them I had enough. They said to just throw the bag out and that they were not going to give me a refund. I demanded I speak to the owner and he basically just called me a liar and said there was no way he was refunding my money. Stay away from Vital Essentials raw food. Terrible company, terrible people, terrible product.
