Company Mission Statement: To provide an outstanding place to work for our employees, an excellent advertising value, and quality service for our customers in an environmentally friendly manner. Nothing can be further from the truth. I worked there 6 weeks before John Brooks sales manager, or Mr. High Pressure fired me. Everything he says is a lie! Just like a used car salesman, he says, “Let me be honest with you!†Smart sales people never say that! If John’s lips are moving he is lying and if his nose grew it would circle the earth 5X! Beware: if he lies once, he’ll lie twice. Snakes lie, cheat and steal! Outstanding place to work for; my ass, it was absolutely the worst place I have ever worked. John Brooks suffers from a severe inferiority complex. John has a limited self image and therefore makes fun of people, pukes on people, envies people and thinks sex is funny at 30 something years old! He doesn’t have a parade of his own so he has to rain on yours. I knew he came straight from the used car business because he told me to say, “What would it take to earn your business, today?†Which is the dumbest question ever asked in sales! 2nd dumbest, “Have you heard of us?†3rd dumbest question ever asked is, “Can you tell me a little bit about your company?†He uses all of those sales techniques!! Knowing what it will take to get someone’s business is one of the least used and most powerful techniques to getting new business. Here’s the secret; your job as a salesperson is not to use this technique, it is to master it! The name is Val-U-Ads and nothing could be further than the truth! Seriously, not one person there knows how to sell value! The girls beg and plead with customers until they say yes. Used car salesman, John Brooks, used high pressure, manipulative, diss the competition sales tactics that are so passe. What customers waant is creativity, value, and relationships. It is estimated that 50% of sales are made because of friendship! No kidding! Billions are now spent online, but soon it will be trillions. Val-U-Ads canned website is a joke! I know my 6th grader could have created something better! They should be taking advantage of leading edge technology, having a website that’s service friendly, question friendly, sales friendly, and creating rapid responses to all e-mail inquiries. Secret: The company who’s easiest to do business with is the one who wins! Duh…. Then when you get fired or quit John Brooks gets all of your accounts unless they are Big City Accounts then they become HOUSE ACCOUNTS. Think about it, they pay you nothing to work there and then “THEY MAKE ALL OF THE RESIDUAL INCOME!†It’s kind of like a Ponzi scheme! Oh, on City Search Val-U-Ads claims to have been in business since 1987. However, the business didn’t actually start until 12/1/1998. Check on them at the Colorado Secretary of State if you have any doubts. Also check the Better Business Bureau's records, it also says something different! Other advertising companies like Valpak keep their sales representatives for 20+ years unlike Val-U-Ads whose reps average 6 weeks TOPS! Fact: Direct mail is the most recycled material in the world, so don’t let them tell you Val-U-Ads doing it to be a green company. They are just cheap, cheap, cheap! Plus food doesn’t look good in that cheap-ass newspaper print! |
