I found some files I was searching for and clicked on 'download now'. Just register first. Registered. Just download our download tool, but no Linux version so did it on a friend's computer. She was also required to register. Downloaded the software, ran it. The files weren't there. Rang the netherlands and cancelled trial. Got an email telling me my trial was cancelled. Two weeks later I was charged 99euros. I lodged a dispute with paypal and told my friend that this was happening in case it caused her problems. She said she had also received a bill and had cancelled her credit card. Usenet said the transaction on my account was in someone else's name. Two weeks later paypal acknowledged the mistake and repaid me.

I'm filing this report in the hope that usenet will change their registration and billing process. The person who downloads the software is not necessarily that same person who gives their paypal details. So you need to send all correspondence to the paypal address or the first thing the person knows is they get billed. Also, if two transactions go through together on the same account something's probably gone wrong.

This has been a pain in the arse. I will never sign up for Usenet now which is pity because it used to be free and used to be good. I wasted many hours trying to find stuff that had 68k hits but was never there. Whatever is going wrong - FIX IT.
