I hired this company to move me last weekend. When I hired them they said the charge would be $115/hr plus an hour extra of travel time. They charged my credit card $100 up front with the understanding that it would be refundable at the time of the move. They showed up at my house at 7:20am and packed everything into the truck. They were done packing the truck by 11:15am. I sent my boyfriend with them to the new house while I cleaned the old house. Because I was not going to be going over to the new house, they asked for my credit card information before they left. I gave it to them and asked how much they expected the total to be. They said they would call me when they got to the new house and estimated how long unpacking would take. That seemed reasonable enough. My boyfriend called me about 30 minutes later asking how much I expected the total to be. I said I estimated it would be arount $600-$700. He said they were telling him it would be $2300! Then he said they just changed it and said it was going to be even more! I called the company and got hung up on twice. So I called the other number I had. The lady that answered said the office does not have contact with the drivers and I would need to call the supervisor and gave the same number I had already tried twice. I told her I had tried that number and had been hung up on. She tried the number and said they hung up on her too, but to keep trying and eventually someone would answer. I finally go in touch with the "supervisor". He said he would call the driver and call me back. When I didn't hear back 20 minutes later I called him back. By this time my debit card had already been charged $1200! He actually told me that since all I had in my account was $1200, he would need another form of payment and authorization for another $400 and that was all the discounts he could give me. When I asked how in the world $115 x 5 equals $1600, he started getting very loud trying to "explain" it to me. So I told him he was not going to yell at me and he was also not going to get another dime of my money. I called the Sherrif's department and met a deputy at the house. When the deputy got there, the movers said that since I called the police they were leaving with all my stuff on the truck. The deputy told them they were not leaving and they needed to unload all of my belongings. They unloaded everything and left. I called my bank and the representative told me that they had tried to charge my account for $2700 the first time but since I didn't have that much in my account, they ran it a second time for $1200. This charge was done AFTER my boyfriend told them I was not going to pay the amount requested. He told me later that as soon as he told them that, they ran back to the truck immediately and called it in. DO NOT hire this company! They will rip you off and then talk to you like you just don't understand how it works. They add multiple "fees" and charges but don't tell you about them until they have all your belongings on the truck and won't unload until you pay what they ask. They charged for every piece of furniture they wrapped with blankets and shrink wrap, but they don't ask you before they wrap anything. They just go in and start doing it and then tell you later you owe them for it. I'm not exactly sure what the $115/hr actually pays for, but it is a total lie. |

This also happened to us and they held our furniture in the truck until we came up with 3500 in Cash!!!
for a 750 dollar job!!! The police in Norfolk VA were not helpful! I am filing a complaint with the attorney Generals office and suggest others to do the same! This is a classic gypsy switch and bate! There is no responce from the company! |

The SAME thing happened to me!! Mine was a local move and I had one bedroom of furniture. They charged me the $100 deposit, then $700 more half-way through (which I thought was the total amount I was to be charged) and then when we got to the new place they showed me this chicken-scratched writing list of extensive packing materials, etc. and said I owed another $2300 (that seems to be the magic number). I argued with them and called the police and they eventually agreed to drop the charges to $1900 and split it up into two charges, one for $1500 and one for $400, which was to be charged later in the week. I don't have a credit card, only a debit card, and they wiped me out. They held my stuff ransom until I paid them. They took the $1500 and then I canceled my credit card right away so they could not put through the charge for $400, which they tried to do the next day instead of waiting 4 more days as agreed (shocker). Then after I paid them MY FAMILY AND I HAD TO UNLOAD THE TRUCK OURSELVES!!! They refused to do the work! I have pictures to prove this. I tried to work this out with them and argue my side (they took 7 hours to load the truck, the driver was sleeping most of the time instead of supervising, they left piles of trash at my house, they over-wrapped everything - even items that did not need to be protected and I told them NOT to wrap...) and filed a complaint with them and they said that they needed 45 days to review and respond, so I gave them that time and agreed to not put any more complaints out on the web during that time. 45 days came and went and they ignored my repeated e-mail attempts for a status update. When I finally got Joseph and Alex on the phone, they both said they "needed more time." So I gave them another week. Then a week later they still said they "needed more time." During every phone conversation I was hung up on at least once. It became clear that they never intended to refund any money to me aqnd they were just stringing me along hoping that I would lose momentum. Joseph condesendingly called me "sweetheart" and "honey" when we talked on the phone and he offered to give me $500 back if I wiped out all the complaints on the web first. I told him that I will do nothing before I have the check in my hand (and cashed, actually) and he got irate with me and said he was going to call my BOSS (seriously) and then he hung up on me. He kept mentioning how my complaint on ripoffreport.com cost them $2k to erase, and they did get it removed (even though the site says that's impossible), but I will repost my complaint and have my family and boyfriend do the same thing - they were there and they helped me unload the truck and move everything into the new place and they also saw how the driver and Joseph treated me.
It would have been so much easier for them to resolve this with me, but instead it will cost them several thousands more to clear their name. And I'll continue to spend even more time and energy spreading the word about these SCAM ARTISTS until they are out of business. |
