On 03/09/2011 I signed a contract to have US Moving and Storage handle my move from Centreville VA to Ashburn VA. (about 15 miles). They bid on my Virginia job from a website form I completed to obtain moving quotes. When I inquired I was told they had movers all over the tri-state. The movers arrived 1.5 hours late and made the move a nightmare. After packing up and departing from my (old) Centreville apartment and upon arrival at my (new) Ashburn apartment, the driver started to have the 2 movers slowly bring items into the new apartment. However once we started discussions about payment and I raised my objections; they locked down the truck and threaten to remove all my belongings (already packed in their truck). I had tax returns, bank statements and everything I owned on that truck. I was informed if I did not pay the nearly $2,000 they would leave with my property. This is not even close to the terms/cost I agreed to. There was mass confusion of actual charges vs. credits on my account. I called the Police Dept and upon their arrival they informed me this was a Civil Matter and said the movers could leave with my property if we did not agree over the payment amount. I was very upset, stressed and frankly nearly in shock that this was even possible to occur. Joseph & Irina were the contact persons prior to the move. When the driver was over charging me I called Joseph three times and each time he agreed I did not have to pay the misc cost. However each time I got off the phone Alex (driver) disagreed. I discussed with them relentlessly the amounts. Joseph changed his mind he said in the fourth telephone call and then the on the fifth call he said I want to give you credits but now you called the police. * But the agreed upon credits never came not that night and not since this time. The only credit is the $328.00 which was to reverse of an accidental charge of $164.00. (Again part of their confusion game). I signed several slips of debit, but credits were to follow when move was completed. I asked for the owners name they refused to offer this. The driver would not give me his full name either. The movers DOUBLE charge me and threaten to remove all my property. It was midnight and clearly I was being placed under duress. Note: in addition to extra cost; movers broke a light fixture, taped my property with enough tape to an entire State. They were suppose to pay me $50.00 for insurance purposes and did NOT!!!! Note: On my signed contract I struck out paragraphs that referred to a website and reiterated I would only be charged $99 per hour and no other charges. Still they said this is a new contract. WHAT??? really! However; I refused to sign at the time of of the mvove the "no dispute" form and won that battle. So since that time I disputed the charges with my bank and they credited my account, I am waiting for final resolve now. I am prepared to sue the "movers: if I lose the dispute, but after reading all these reports I fear they will soon be out of business. But they should be. They clearly are con artist. |
