George Urbino, quoted us a price for remodeling after some extensive water damage. The price changed a few days later, and again when he knew he had the job, each time increasing in price. George is not a man of his word, when work was started nothing was done as stated it would be, such as tarping off the rooms that needed to be drywalled and sanded, thus coating everything in the house, even the unaffected rooms, with thick dust. Electronics, furniture, rugs, appliances, everything, which added out of pocket cost to us to have cleaners come in and clean before we could even think about moving back home. Work was started in November of 2012, and just recently completed near the end of January 2013, we were told that work would be done by Thanksgiving, then in the first part of December, then by Christmas. Everytime George would get money he and his crew of one man, would work for a day or two solid, then something would come up, he wouldn't show up. A contract was never outlined as to how much material and labor would cost, he told us an amount and just asked for money sporadically, payable directly to him, not the business, so what he actually did with the money was unknown. When the money from insurance ran out and a supplement was needed, he and his helper got the flu and couldn't work. The work that was completed is second rate. We had another contractor come in after George took the money and ran, he said from the quality of work that George should be arrested. George continually made decisions arbitrarily without authorization from us. Things such as changing the model and brand of floor for the kitchen, using the wrong size cabinets, placing the bathroom vanity in the wrong spot instead of moving the plumbing. Then he even went as far to do something I specifically told him not to do, which was screw anything into the new cabinets. He then proceeded to hang a valance in the kitchen and screwed it into the cabinet, cracking the cabinet with the screw. Overall, the work he did complete is shoddy, his business ethics are shady and now he is blasting us all over Facebook and texting us. We are now left to hire a new contractor to fix what he did wrong while he's out spending all our insurance company's money. |
