University of Phoenix only cares about getting tuition I attended the University and I transferred in without a hitch. After a couple leave of absences, due to the terrible financial aid department, I finally completed my program. Once I sat with a counselor at the end of the program & I was informed I would be allowed to attend commencements but I had to sign up for community college and re-do some of my lower division units. I was never informed there was a time limit for completing these courses that I didn't know I needed. Once the courses were complete and I contacted the school I was informed that I only had 12 months to complete them(what!!!). I don't know how this could be possible but since I've taken longer then what they allotted they want me to retake some of my previous courses (paying them more tuition) because they've changed the curriculum. So now they want approx 45,000 (42 units) more for additional tuition and books for them to give me my degree. That's like holding it hostage. They are telling me that their previous classes are not good enough now. (They were good enough to charge me $50,000+ when I was taking them.) I wish somebody had told me about Phoenix before I enrolled. I only went there because I heard while I was attending Heald Business college that they would accept my units from Heald. Of course Phoenix said no problem when I transferred in. Don't believe the counselors, and don't become a Phoenix go to a different school. Pick a state school where your units are good no matter where you go. Infact community college is better then University of Phoenix. Heald Business College was miles ahead of University of Phoenix. I never should have transferred. Dont be a Phoenix- Go any place else but that school!!!! And Don't send your kids either, they will blunder the financial aid and refuse them what they have earned.
