My experience with United States Van Lines. By Bobby. Im Disabled United States Van Lines subcontracted my move to, RELO VAN LINES TO MOVE MY BELONGINGS LLC, 744 Broad St. 16th Floor Newark, NJ 07102 . THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL MOVE EVER! I paid $884.77 to United States Van Lines for the 1st down payment and $ 448.89 2nd down payment to US Van Lines on a $2,498.65 move. I paid $1,215.95 to RELO VAN LINES to offload my possessions. The driver was, Slavic/Russian? speaking fellow, and a (illegal alien that was Hispanic) I had to also pay RELO Van Lines, LLC, when they arrived. Extra 5% on my credit card. At first we were impressed. The loaders as well as the driver seemed professional and friendly.
The day the movers got to our home we was looking for a 53 foot truck, and what we got was a 26 foot truck that would not be large a enough to get all our possessions on the truck. I was told it will work, and they have been doing this for a long time. Doing the time the movers was loading our personal possessions on the truck, the helper got injured and started bleeding profusely and they had to stop which that put the move 2 hours behind, I tried to help with cut on his hand and could not get the blood to stop, I told the driver that he will need to go the hospital. I was told no he could not go do to him being a illegal alien with no papers, I told him that would not matter he needed help and soon. And that he has gotten blood all over our personal belongings and that is not going to work. At that time he would not go to the hospital so I called a Nurse to come to my house to help him, She got the bleeding to slow down but not stop. At that time it was the driver doing all the work so my wife and I started helping with loading the truck. The driver also expressed to me that we are out of time that we had another move going to Florida. And did not know if everything was going to make it on the truck. Well to keep this short everything did not make it on the truck 6 of our personal possessions did not make it on the truck and was left behind. 2 Boxes of our belongings was lost and was later found by Vince from Relo Van Lines, was told today March 22, 2011 that I would have to pay storage on the belongings before I could get it back.
My furniture has scratches on it, blood was on the sofa and loveseat, and my Sofa frame was broken to the point I can not fix it. I have put together a list of everything that is Damaged, missing or a loss. Relo Van Lines was under contract to put everything back like it was in our old home and they did not put one thing back in any way so they Broke the contract and will not pay or fix anything they did to us. My experience with United States Van Lines. By Tammy ( Bobbys Wife) Me and my family had decided for the benefit of my kids school and we were not happy with were we were living we new that our home was in Georgia so that was our decision to move so we figured out just when and how we were going to move. We were going back and forth about should we get a U-Haul than I brought up the idea to my husband see how much it would cost to get movers to do it because my husband has had 3 heart attacks and 6 stints so he cannot do any lifting over 5 pds.
So looked at several movers was looking over all the quotes and decided that United Van lines was the cheapest way to go. I had my husband give United Van lines a call he talked to a lady named Paige she and my husband went over everything that we had in the house what the cost would be and the deposit we did not decide right than so some time went byPaige gave us a
Call back the price was not the same as the first time and she said that she would change the price the way it was the first time I then gave the phone to my husband they went over the details and he paid the deposit to secure the move. We thought things were taken care of then we get a call from Sean stating that we had to pay an additional deposit because of the weight (that threw me off I could not figure why the price changed ) Sean did say if the weight was less we would not have to pay as much at the end which turned out to be not the case at the end we still end of paying more .
So its moving day and the movers arrive Im expecting united van lines and We have Relo Van Lines so United Van lines contracted out to this company. We get a 26 ft truck 2 guys and a different company. They came in I dont remember the drivers name but the driver and his helper start loading the truck they started clearing everything out of the living room as Im walking around I see blood and I could not figure out were it was coming from It was on the carpet ,file cabinet and furniture and I still did not know were it was coming from and I go outside were the movers were and I see the helper dripping blood and he is still moving our belongings while he is bleeding . I told my husband he is bleeding and my husband looked at his finger and the helper had put a big gash in his finger he needed stitches. So we asked if we needed to call an ambulance or take him to the hospital he said no I asked are you legal he said no The driver said no he is not legal but if he needed to take him to the hospital that he would use his drivers license we told him that would not work so I said that my sister is a nurse I will she if she can come and help. My sister and her husband come over and she looks at his Finger and told the helper and the driver he needed stitches but my sister put some ointment to clean the wound and she put a 3 butterfly bandages and wrapped it in bandages also the diver said if the helper needed to go to the hospital he would take him the next day. The helpers finger never stopped bleeding he could not lift boxes or the furniture because he could not put pressure on that hand..

I asked the driver how is helper cut his finger He said when they were caring the sofa he pushed to hard thru the door and his hand got stuck in the door with the sofa. Two hours later the driver continued to move our belongings by himself is helper was caring the light stuff I dont know what happened the driver picked up and carried our wash machine I dont know if he dropped it or what happened but the top of the wash machine is now really lose and when I try to turn the machine on to wash Im having trouble turning it to what load I need and that was not like that before.. In the mean time with the helper getting hurt and its getting late then someone called the police several times complaining were the truck was parked so the cop comes and said that the movers would have to move there truck I explained to the cop there is no were else to move the truck than the cop understood and left so I go back in the house still the progress of the move is going really slow so me and my husband who is a heart patient are bringing everything to the living room trying to speed up the process my husband is loading the truck this had been just one big mess up. Nothing about this move has been professional after everything was loaded and completed I asked the driver when would our belongings arrive in Georgia he said he would not get to Georgia until sat or sun I said that would be ok and I shook his hand and said see you then so sense it was so late and we thought we had until the weekend to move we were just going to stay the night and rest and finish cleaning the house the next day and then leave the following day well now we get a call from best movers stating what time the driver was going to be at our home in Georgia I told the lady and explained to her that we were not in Georgia that we were still in West Virginia she said no that the driver would be there at this time we were back and fourth on the phone and explaining what the driver had said she said the driver miss understood that his route had changed and I told her that It was not my fought that the driver misunderstood so now I was worried that we were not going to get our furniture so my husband was on a 4 way with united van lines the driver of Relo and the lady from best mover and Vince the owner. The driver denied what he had told me and my husband standing in our kitchen in West Virginia to everyone on the phoneso our furniture was being delivered the next day only we were not going to be there the day of the delivery thanks to the driver so we had to make arrangement with our landlord in Georgia to take time out of his day so our furniture can be delivered and we also called my husband sister to come to the house sense we were not their but before our things were delivered we had to pay the remaining of the bill which we did but we had to pay 5% more because we were paying with a credit card so another incontinence . Our belongings get delivered they just set things anywhere nothing was set up or put where it should be. My husband sister was under the impression they were coming back in to set everything up but instead they are outside were she can see them change the signs on there truck and dot number to a different company so I dont know what kind of business these people are running its not professional at all. We get to Georgia tired, worried if all of our belonging were there because our landlord called us and said I dont think all of your stuff is here because they had someone else belonging and unloading their belongings to get to our belonging and sure enough we are missing things and things got damaged .

I feel the contract was broken in many way ,
1. How many companys were involved.
2. Items are missing.
3. Not placing our belongs stated in the contract upon arrival
4. Adding a 5% to the contract because we paid with a credit card.
5. We had to move things ourselves. As a customer we did our part everything that was expected of us was done we paid everything in full we had everything ready when the movers came and what we got in return broken items, lied to by Best Movers and Relo Van Lines items missing that are setting in someone elses home in Florida which was told by Vince that we would have to pay storage fees for there mistake ( I think not)..
