UNITED HEALTH CARE Misrepresentation of their insurance plans PLANO, Texas
8th of Jun, 2011 by User601458
It's been a nightmare one day after another, and no light in sight. My husband came home with this insurance package from work, and told me how quickly his employer wanted to rush into this new GREAT LOW COST insurance plan. But, he had to sign the papers right now in order to get the coverage. He was hesitant of course and brought the application home. A month went by it was time to refill my sons prescriptions, we were DENIED. Went back to look for our booklet to see what prescriptions were available, we did NOT receive a simple booklet to find out what was available. Everything hit us so fast, we had to scramble and fight through recordings to get assistants, when we did we spoke with an advocate who told us in a sweet condescending voice that we should apply for CHIPS and Prescriptions plans. We made to much for CHIPS, and the prescriptions program helped, but for only two refills. We went back and forth with the insurance trying to get assistants, to no avail, so we decided, we would put the children on my insurance. DENIED, United told us they could not release our children because we passed the open enrollment. I could not believe my ears. First they misrepresented themselves by not revealing what they DID or DID NOT cover. Then they told us to get on government assistances when we are paying a more than 500 a months in premiums and a 3000 deductible (per person). And, now that it's been over a month, they will not release my children from their insurance plan so they can have coverage with my employer. I'm so upset, I do not what to do, and yes I know they're a business, but businesses should not falsely advertise what they do NOT have. If we had known in the beginning we would of put the children on my insurance from the start. Would you believe they even sent us a link to get on food stamps? Then told us, "I'm sorry it's not what you want to hear?" We our both working parents, who will pay for our insurance. Is there a way to be released from these crooks, so we can? My daughter is diabetic and my son has an inoperable brain tumor (benign), and all I want is to be released from United health care's hold to provide good care for my kids.
