This is mine and my wife's story. We are 19 years old and had been ingaged for 1year we are getting married in about 6 months when we decided that we would like to just build our first house. We discovered that we did not have enough credit history to get a 2 part loan, so we looked at some places like united built and went and talked to the sales guy at united built his name was Shawn. We told him we didn't have a lot of money to put in it. He proceeded to tell us that united built will bend over backwards for us and it would be no problem to have it all done before we got married. 4 months later our "house" was still sitting at my wife's grandparents house ( in other words nothing was done) not even covered by a tarp. We finally gave in and called them to see what the problem was and were then told that there was a problem getting permits. Finally all of that was straightened out ( or so we thought) and construction began. We got married in June 2009 and all of our family members were able to see our beautiful ...foundation. The house was not then completed until October of 2009. Before we even moved in we noticed a crack in the foundation, but were told it wasn't a problem. The crack grew large enough for us to fit our fingers in and finally they came to repair it...with car jacks cemented underground to hold our house up. Then the crack came back and cracked in a second spot and grew once more to the same size it was before so this time they made some steel boxes to hold it up instead. As of today it is cracked again for the third time and doors inside our home won't close and we have cracks in the walls now and in various other places, our bedroom floor is dipped in, but instead of getting things fixed the right way they tell us that it isn't their problem, but they are going to foot the bill to put in a French drain. |
