Troy Jones Hiroller Theft of services Plano, Texas |
26th of Sep, 2011 by User412710 |
On the dates of February 11,12,13, and 15, 2010 singer Sarah Galway recorded 5 songs at the Track Recording Studio in Plano, TX. Studio time was booked and purchased by Ms. Galaway's manager Troy "Hiroller" Jones also of Plano, TX. The total cost of services provided by the studio, which included use of the studio, audio engineer, and master recordings was $2,451.75 and invoiced upon completion of the recording project to Mr. Jones. The studio's policy is to retain the original master recording until all payments for services are received, but Mr. Jones insisted the master copy of the songs be released to him immediately as he had a trip scheduled to New York City early the following day with Ms. Galway to meet several major record label executives. Mr. Jones further asked that the studio duplicate a total of 15 compact discs of the master recording, as it was nearly midnight upon completion of the project and the flight was too early the next day to have time to make additional copies which we agreed. The 4-day recording session was demanding, 2 nights completed after 4am and one night to return home in 12 inches of snow, but everybody was excited that young singer Sarah Galway might get a record deal with a major labe as a result of our work. From there the problems began and Mr. Jones was never seen again by the studio! He first asked for "a couple of weeks" to pay off the studio invoice. Later, he said he was having personal and financial problems but at NO TIME did he offer or propose a payment plan for the studio time. The studio tried contacting him at his job, which they stated he separated, and his wife stated he no longer lived at his Plano address. Being a supporter of the career of the artist, the studio followed Ms. Galway's career via her Facebook fan page, however the information posted was unsettling, as Mr. Jones was still funding studio recording time for Ms. Galway despite having refused to pay The Track Studio over $2,450 in recording services! Ms. Galway recorded on the following dates: April 3rd in Dallas at Skyline Studios, May 29 in Atlanta, July 23,24,25 in Atlanta, April 23,24 2011 in California, and September 12, 2011. Ms. Galway recorded a total of 8 days of additional studio time, on at least 5 different occasions, in at least 3 different studios across the country while the Track Studio was left with an unpaid claim of $2,451! Mr. Jones even found the financial resources to "fly" to see Ms. Galway perform at her talent show in late January (again posted to her Facebook fan page). We took proper legal steps to collect our payments from Mr. Jones filing a small claim in Collin County Texas court but it wasn't easy. A private firm was retained to serve Mr. Jones, a court date set which Mr. Jones refused to appear for either the hearing or judgment, which ultimately the studio prevailed in the sum of $3,447 for theft of services and related court costs on February 16, 2011. No monies have been yet paid by Mr. Jones but he still seems to manage funding Sarah Galway's career as noted in Ms. Galway's August 31, 2011 posting " I have some heavy hitters on my team and I'm so excited and Thankful!! Thank you and much love to TJ..." I always wish the best for music artists who record at our studio, particularly the younger ones with a positive outlook and opportunities still ahead of them. Hopefully, this report will draw attention to the fact that some of us who gave our best to help Sarah Galway's musical career got disposed of after use being left totally "ripped off" by Troy Hiroller Jones. Perhaps Ms. Galway and her family did not know my studio was ripped off by Mr. Jones, but the fact is you do now so what are you going to do about it? |
