Tristar Trucking Fairway Auto Transport, Inc. Low Quotes & Exorbitant Charges!!! Glen Head, New York
26th of Mar, 2011 by User235570
SCAMMERS!!! Tristar Trucking aka Fairway Auto Transport, Inc. is a BAIT & SWITCH company. You'll receive a very low quote followed up by an email stating that they have had a cancellation and can offer you a discount. BE WARNED - their contract has many built in additional charges like $165 brokerage commission and up to $250 or more in additional
trucking costs. The contract states they will contact you with any additional costs before the vehicle is shipped but they do not. Although my contract was quoted at $525, all the additional charges allowed for a MAXIMUM contractual charge of $940. I paid Fairway/Tristar $175 up front and was forced to pay an additional $900 cash to the transport driver when my
vehicle arrived to avoid having the vehicle placed in an impound lot at an additional charge of $100 per day. Conveniently, the day my vehicle arrived, dispatch at Tristar claimed no one was in the office to review my contract and
I would have to pay the driver or have the vehicle taken to impound. AVOID THESE LYING SCAMMERS!!! Their quotes are meaningless and they will not honor their contract. I have called them on at least 5 occasions and they always tell me they will "look" at my contract and call me back, but they never do.

Hello, i seen your posting on the internet. Frank in Calif. another victum of these con artists. i really want to get these frauds reported to any agency that will do something. Did you get any authorities that will look into this, let me know anything i can help with in this direction.
I was amazed to see all the negative postings on these guys, of course after i was getting concerned about ther performance and after i paid. The transport was from Tx to Calif. a 06 dodge ram 2500 truck at an insurance auction site Copart. My experience was simular as all the others reviews i've read.

I read the contract but in a continuos stream of emails they firmly promised me date after date firm commitments of a pick up. My problem is i was having storage fees add up 20.00 a day till the truck was picked up. Ther contract gives them an out but yet they continue to give you firm commitments of a pickup to keep you on the hook, reeling you in, then when they have your vehicle your really hooked and held hostage. don't pay them, then no vehicle and you pay storage fees.

After smelling a skunk and looking at all the negative reviews i decided to book with a transporter off the Copart insurance yard list. they agread to take my truck to ther site awaiting a transport opening of ther own, and no storage fees. Im paying alot more for the transport but basically this is what it takes and they are answerable to Copart should something go amiss. . Tristar quoits it super cheap and waits for a cancelation or run that has a open spot, the problem is your on hold till they do, and held hostage, if you force the issue they then charge you more on delivery, again your held hostage, plus any other fees they can come up with, they have your vehicle, your hooked.

So i emailed them to notify them i was canceling our contract as ther contract allows and to get a refund of the 175.00 broker fee, less the 50.00 administration fee. they never emailed back, i called and magically the response email was sent that they already had my truck booked with a broker, no refund. i emailed back, hearsay and excuses are not valid to establish a verifiable existing booking. i need the name, address, reference number, phone number and contact to confirm my truck was booked, the burden of proof is on Tristar, just as the contract is written and verifiable, the booking must also be written and verifiable, otherwise they have not performed in the requirements of ther own contract.

Well of course i only get more runaround. he said i can't tell you the drivers name and contact because you will just contact him next time you need a transport and i will have no bussiness. i said well when he would have delivered my truck is he invisable, deaf and dumb. silence

Ther contracts are skillfully written but they are also not clearly disclosing the full range of possibilities that are implicated regardless of what they verbally tell and promise you. its a trap, they have your vehicle and consumers are held hostage.
In my case i canceled the contract b4 they got my truck and got in any deeper, but they have not provided me verifiable proof that my truck was booked, therfore i am owed the booking refund.

i have a continuois stream of emails showing the events of this nightmare as im sure everyone else has that has been scamed. please forward me any contacts you have made with any authorities that have had an interest to do something here. these scum bags must be bonded, insured, registered with some regulatory agency and belong to some trucking associations, better bussiness bureas, chamber of commerce, are they reporting paying taxes on all the scam money they are taking in from consumers.

Let me know, thanks. Frank

Hi, before I begin with my story I would like to note something. According to the Better Business Bureaus there is a complaint against them which in their website they claim there is not, also it should be noted they have an “F” rating Better Business Bureaus. Any company has a right to defend itself and this I fully agree. However, most respectable companies that defend themselves do so in a manner that does not attack or alienate former or potential customers. If you look at the post left by K H on 4/23/2010 9:18:00 PM Fairway made a rebuttal where he calls this client a Jackass. Now I am not a politically correct kind of person but I have known of no reputable company that has ever defended itself from a disgruntled company by calling that customer a “Nuts” and a “Jackass”. This should tell you something about this company who in every defense claims that that these people were in actuality out to get them. As if people surf the internet looking for an Auto Transporter to take advantage of and has sales “force the order on us”. I would also like to note the claim that they ship 5000 cars per year, as I have not seen any records I can not say the following with certainty. However, I can say for a company that handles 5000 cars per year it seems only 2 to 3 people ever pick up their phones. Seems too few for me but who knows. Now for my story...

I used Fairway Auto Transport back in January and it was the biggest mistake ever made. I spoke with a man named Jonathan who told me he was an honest broker unlike others. This was an out right bold face lie! I booked with them for a standard 585 total for shipping the vehicle. They indicated to me that I would have to pay 175 now and then 410 once the driver dropped off the car. This sounded like a great deal, so I agreed. This today still stands as one of the stupidest decisions I have ever made. About 3 days later I received a call from Jonathan which I missed. I called him back not knowing what was wrong. When I called I said “hey Jonathan, you called?” he said “Yeah, I was calling you back.” In which I responded “No, I didn’t. I have a missed call from you. ” Jonathan then said “Must have been your phone.” I said “I don’t think it was, but its ok has a nice day.” When the Truck came to pick up the car the drivers said they do not ship any vehicle for under $500.00. I believed that they were all part of the same company at the time and asked them to call their boss and explain the discrepancy. I spoke to the boss of the driver who assured me as that BEFORE the car is delivered that the difference would be returned to my credit card. So the truckers took the car and I waited to be reimbursed.

Once I received my car of course there had not been a credited amount back to my card. So, I called Jonathan. He claimed that I had called him that faithful day(The day he said I called him and I said he called me) after the initial agreement and had upgraded my service to expedited service so as he claimed he had done me a favor by not charging me more and if I pressed the issue he would. That was a complete lie I never asked him to expedite anything the pick up and drop off date never changed. The company was is a complete fraud and I hope who ever reads this heeds my warning don’t use them for any reason…do not even chance it they are horrible people who yelled and threaten their customers. They lie and cheat people out of money and I will never use them again. The truck drivers even said when they drop off my car that they always have problems with that broker because he knows their rates and always tells people something different. DON’T USE THEM!!!

F.Y.I. They changed their Website address and location!!! The old one shows up after Rip-off report when searched online.

Please let me know I am more that happy to participate in a class action lawsuit if one was ever to materialize. If you haven't yet please file a report with the Better Business Bureaus they have 14 complaits so far.

This company M.O. sounds eerily familiar. I would suggest that someone good at research (or the A.G.'s office) make sure this is not another reincarnation of AutoTrail/An Eastern Connection/ A Blue Knight etc...

If it is, the A.G. already has had dealings with these people and they may be in violation of law if my instincts are correct.
