If you are even remotely thinking about working for this company run the other way!
I have no personal vendetta against this company (I should have been smarter and blame myself). I just want to warn other hard working people out there looking for a job like myself to stay clear.
This is a very well run "work from home" ripoff scam. They have been in business in Gilbert, Arizona for over 15 years. Their claim to fame is that they have had employee's working there since inception, however they are family and friends working in the office and not the transcriptionists.
First you have to pay $550 for a "license fee" and sign a contract that you will work there for 3 months or you have to pay another $250 if you quit (the $250 is supposedly for the 3 days of training) . It is hard to believe that this could even be legal.
No matter how fast of a typist, no matter how good of a speller, it is virtually impossible to make more than approximately $5.00 per hour. This is because many of the audios are so garbled or the people speaking have heavy accents or the people are talking over each other, etc. I worked for this company for three months and went in the hole. Please beware!

I have to agree with everything you said. I am a very fast typist and cannot get over $5/hr. 85 - 90% of the audios are so bad a 20 min. audio could take 3-4 hours, that's a whole $4.40.
Also, $550 is steep for a "license" to use VoiceScribe". I find it hard to believe at the volume they purchase it cost them $1000 per license! Plus $6/mo for a voicemail service when they could just email us - and I know it doesn't cost them $6 x 125 transcriptionists ($750/mo) for this service!
AND THEN, along comes a holiday weekend when you cannot get a hold of anyone. The contract says you can download 24/7. Went all four days without being able to download. I'm out $200.
I'm gonna re-read my contract and put my notice in. At this point THEY OWE ME for the bogus program I paid for and the four days of work I missed out on. |
