I purchased a laptop computer from Toshiba in 2009, at the local best buy store. The computer worked from approximately six months, before I began to notice an issue with the ac adapter. It would only work if turned a particular way and held. When it finally stopped working all together, I brought it to my local repair company, who discovered the problem was the wiring inside the computer, connecting the ac adapter jack. I could have it it repaired, for a total cost of 100 dollars. Originally, they told me the company should pay to have it replaced, as the computer was still under warranty. I then contacted Toshiba and waited about twenty-five minutes, and finally spoke to a representative (who spoke little english, she was extremely hard to understand.) and explained my problem. The representative clearly could not understand me, it took at least ten minutes for her to realize what my problem was. Then she told me I would have to PAY to ship the laptop to them, and it would take six to eight weeks. I am a student, and required this laptop for college courses. So I chose to not follow this particular option and had it repaired locally. Within a month, the same problem occurred with the adapter jack. So I ordered the part from Toshiba, which I had to pay for. Within two months, the problem occurred a third time. They told me that with Toshiba laptops, the adapter jack is only weakly connected to the motherboard. So I had it repaired once more, (I'd spent well over 150 dollars by this point) and then, the operating system with which the computer came installed (vista) also failed. This would cost nearly two hundred dollars to replace. I chose to get rid of my toshiba at this point. I had a terrible time with this laptop, it was out for repair much more than I used it. Will never purchase anything from this company again. |
