I rented from Tony Hamp for around 3 years. I was never late with my rent payment and I never missed a payment. When we first moved in, we were told that the house had been completely rebuilt inside. It was to have new electrical, new plumbing, new carpets, etc. After about a month of living there, we quickly noticed that the house was not re-done, but a real nice cover up job was done.
Things started falling apart in the house quickly. Each time we would call Tony Hamp, our landlord, with a complaint or issue about the house, he would threaten to raise our rent or kick us out.
So for three years we dealt with mold in the basement, a car sized hole in the living room, where the pipes had broken in the ceiling and rotted away the drywall ... we were told that the basement didn't leak, and that it was safe to store items down there. The first time it rained, it flodded the basement about 6 to 8 inches deep. All of our belongings were lost. The plumbing in the house was pieced together, and the main vent pipe that comes out of the roof was leaking and draining into my childs bedroom. The floor was so weak in the house, we could not have the family in there at the same time, or it would fall in.
If the mail would happen to run late, due to a holiday, he would blame it on us and within a day, an eviction notice was on the door.
The entire 3 years that we rented from Tony Hamp, he would never meet us. He only called to complain about his rent check being late when there was a holiday.
We later found out, that he was treating his female employees horrible. He would curse them and belittle them, to the point it had affected the woman's health.
Also ... he made us pay, over $1100.00 to move into his crummy East Dayton house. I believe we had 3 different deposits and rent due to move in. During our stay at his house, we had never had any incidents relating to damage of the property. I think we may have replaced a window, but that was it. So now that the deposits are due back ... he is not wanting to refund them. We were already advised by his employees, months ago, that he never returns a deposit.
Just be careful renting from Tony Hamp. He is a very careless man with no empathy for any of his clients. I am filing next week, to take him to court.
