This so-called mechanic (Toad's Machine & Mechanic Shop, James (Jim) Horn, Owner) originally promised to have a repair done within hours. What needed to be done was clean out all the fuel lines, gas tank, replace spark plugs and fuel pump. My car was in his shop for 10 days!!! Because the car was running at the time I initially contacted him, he used his own towing service (a friend) to pick up the car. This tow truck service was not available on the day/time needed, so that lost a day in the repairs beginning right off the bat. And once the car was picked up it basically became a prisoner of this scammer mechanic until he took me for hundreds of dollars more than what should have been paid. He claims to be legitimate and will even show you "papers" to verify this, but those are probably BS as well. He claims to have 35 years experience fixing cars - that's probably 35 years ripping people off! He would "fix" something and each day, then something else would come up that made the car not run, so he would explain it in a way that sounded believable enough to someone like me who is not familiar with cars/repairs. Then he would buy another part and do the repair - and this routine lasted for days! After I paid nearly $1000 for numerous parts that he claimed he needed to replace, as well as his labor, the car still was not fixed properly and it had to be towed to a Dealership who confirmed that the repairs were not done right and there were several unneeded parts that he put on - and then they completed the repairs instead. When I finally got my car back, I tried to contact Toad to at least get some of the money back due to an incomplete and unsatisfactory job and guess what - I have not been able to reach him ever since. BEWARE of this smooth talking scam artist!!! He will convince you he knows what he's doing - but the only thing he really knows if how to scam people. |
