Let me start by saying the only reason I took my vehicle here in the first place was because I had to have it towed, as it broke down on me at work, and the driver suggested this was the closest place. When they looked at my 2001 Honda CRV, the manager "Keith" said that it needed a new distributor cap. I authorized them to put a new one on my vehicle and paid some $700 for the part, which allegedly came with a warranty. They put the new cap on, and I received a call stating that despite this, "We still don't know what's wrong with it. We're still not getting spark." I marched up there to inform them that I was having it towed to a reputable place to perform engine work on it. I also asked for a refund, since the cap had not been an effective solution and I was now out $700 for no clear reason. Keith refused to refund my money. I even had my dad on the phone, who was informed by Keith that "apparently your daughter has an engine problem" and their sign on the door "clearly states they do not do engine work". I was quite upset, and he stated to my dad that "Your daughter is being very difficult" - which I thought was rude and unnecessary. After my dad having no success getting them to refund my money or stand behind the parts warranty, he insisted they give me a receipt and write that they do not do engine work at the bottom...so that later I could pursue getting a refund. Keith hemmed and hawed, but finally put on the receipt "I informed customer that we do not do engine work". He signed his name per my dad's request, but only signed his first name. I also pitched a fit because he wrote this only on my copy, but would not write the same for the other that he saved in his files. Let me also add that I asked to speak to his superior, and he refused, stating HE was the manager and I would need to go directly through HIM. So I never did get any further than this half-baked statement from him on paper, where he actually tried to make it sound like it was MY fault for suggesting they do engine work (which I never had, by the way). Flash forward to when I did take the car into Honda. They were looking at the car and doing their diagnostic, and they asked, "Where did Tires Plus get this distributor cap?" I said I didn't know. I was told by the manager at Honda that apparently, Tires Plus ordered a "one-size-fits-all" type of distributor cap, not specific to Honda. He said he would have to look at the old cap they had removed to see if that had, indeed, been the problem, or had even contributed to the problem, of my car not running. I called Tires Plus, so did this manager for Honda; we were informed that they could not give us back the old distributor cap because they were "unable to locate it". This makes no sense to me. Every part has a number and a chain of command of some sort when they dispose of it, whether they sold it or dumped it. they should have been able to tell me what they did with the old one. but apparently they got rid of the shoddy evidence to back their claim that I needed a new one in the first place. I now have an unnecessary (as far as I know) run-of-the-mill cap on my vehicle and I'm out time and lots of money thanks to this outfit. I did get my car going thanks to the Honda dealership, who actually knew what they were doing, UNLIKE Tires Plus. Stay away from this company. The employees are just rude crooks who will rip you off at any chance they can. |
