here is some news about new car rental scam, the guys posting in kijiji.com under (cars for rent at the lowest price(s) in canada, 140 regina rd, vaughan, on l4l 8l9 (three star rent-a- car) are big time scammers. the rental for a week is $150 which is unbelievably cheap,
here comes the catch, $500 deposit which they say will return after 60 days. After 60 days you call them they say you committed some traffic violation so cant return your deposit, you ask for proof then they tell you they will sue for outstanding payments. After 1 year when you probably you lost all your papers they will send you a court order that you did not return the vehicle on time and sue you for more than $1000 I found out the guys who are doing this business are a bunch of lawyers who do their paper work so good even credit card company will not be able to get your money back.
One mistake i did , did not get a paper signed by them when i returned the vehicle after 1 week. So now they are coming after me for not returning the vehicle on the accepted date also a so called red light traffic violation which was dated after 2 months. Smart scam huh.

RIP OFF. True Story. They are truely con-artists here. They set you up from the very beginning. It's quite clever. But not hard to figure out. They bring you in with their 150.00 a week all inclusive rental car package deal. Then their contract states in fine print, that it is for mechanical services and repair. Therefore, you will not be able to dispute it with the credit card companies. Then, they say that you cannot have your 500.00 deposit back until 60 working days. which means, only MON-FRI 60 days! So that ends up being almost 5 months, which therefore, visa does not give you a "chargeback" because it has passed the statute of limitations mark. When I spoke with visa and they did their own investigation, they said it was quite clear, that these people knew how to weave in and around the laws, so that there is no evidence that they had done such a thing. However, if there are enough complaints, they will lose their visa, mastercard, accounts, and therefore, will lose their business. Rightfully so. |
