Thia Montroy, Script Consultant, Hollywood |
Scam, Crook, Etc |

Most Hollywood scam artists are exposed for scamming would-be actors and models. Unfortunately, these
crooks exist to scam fledgling writers as well. This woman used to be at the top of her game, having worked for Lynda Obst and Scott Rudin, but then fell from grace and left the business for many years. She has now reemerged as a "script consultant" whereby she charges wanna-be writers exorbitant amounts of money, attaches herself to their projects with the promise of shopping them to producers, but ends up dropping the writers once she has been paid. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Writers, stay away!!! Beware! If the couple of agencies who work with her had any integrity at all, they would also issue a warning to the Hollywood community! |

Her M.O. is to tell young writers that she only works with A-List million dollar writers, but that they are SO TALENTED that she will take them on. She then charges an astronomical fee (thousands of dollars per month) which she then brings down to 150 dollars per hour. She is also always scrambling to borrow money, and I hear it is because she has a drug habit. |

Thia Montroy is becoming known as a crook throughout the Hollywood community. She preys on innocent writers who have dreams of selling their scripts. She is cold-hearted, calculating, unstable and dates men who can help her in her career, like Dean Georgaris and Fox exec Steven Puri. She openly talks about how she only dates these men so that they can do something for her career. And there are stories all over Los Angeles where writers will tell you time and time again how she scammed them. Stay away! |

I have had a completely opposite experience with Thia. I have worked with her. She is extremely talented and works hard with writers to improve their scripts and make them worthy. She is also honest about what they can expect from her. And yes, she is not as cheap as some broke-ass writers would prefer, bu if you pay peanut, you get monkeys. She knows the science of script-writing better than most and producers listen to her if she is in a room. The truth is, most writers suck and their egos get bruised when their work is beyond repair and lash out, ie: write bad stuff all over the web and place blame where it is not justified. Thia never guarantees the sale of a script If you have a complaint about Thia, I would look in the mirror first, and decide whether you are being honest with yourself about the reality of your talent as a writer before you make such a huge effort to insult and criticize her. Slander is a crime, by the way. Enjoy your career as a half-assed writer, and hopefully you can figure out a way to get your script made into an audio podcast. Assuming you have all the right tools, of course. Like a Mac for starters. |
