The Spiderman Pest Control Matt Flanders The Spiderman Pest Control Utah, awful review and horrible customer support centerville, Utah |

About two months in May 2011, I signed a year agreement with the Spiderman Pest Control to have them come out during the year and take care of bugs. I thought it was a bit expensive but the kid was nice and congenial so I obliged. At certain times of the year I notice that there are bugs around and we have gotten voles in the past. He said that they could take care of all that so I said lets give it a go and see. Well the following day, for the first treatment, someone called me an hour after the appointment to say the technician was running late. That's fine except I was told 11 and now its 12 and I have things to do but I also want to be home to watch them spray since I know that by their nature, pest control companies do shady, dishonest things to make a buck. The truck finally rolls up a quarter till 1. I see two guys get out and only one does the work. I guess the other was new. Well they are obviously in a hurry and even with the one doing all the work, they are there for a measly 13 minutes! They couldn't have done everything in under fifteen minutes, my house is not that small! So I went out to check the work and sure enough, their were still cobwebs up in my eaves and because of how hot it was I couldn't tell exactly where they sprayed but I wouldn't be surprised if they only sprayed a small section of the house. So I call up the company and demand that they come out again and take care of what they missed. I paid around $50 for that first treatment. I had to fight for days to get them to come out again, and this time I walked around with the technician to make sure he was doing his job. If only the problems with the spiderman pest control stopped there. A couple weeks later, I start seeing spiders inside my kitchen again. I call them and speak with Matt Flanders, the owner of the spiderman pest control. He says that seeing spiders is normal because the first treatment can't kill all of the pests, thats why it is a service for the whole year. What a load of crap! I said come out and take care of the spiders or I want a refund. He kinda chuckled and said we have fulfilled our side of the agreement already, we will be out again for the next seasonal treatment. What an awful human being! He talks so nice at first but flips the switch when he thinks he has you in a bind. That is the way his company operates. He tricks you into signing up by putting on a show and once you are their, he takes your money and leaves you. Just takes complete advantage of you. It's no wonder why their bbb ranking is an F. The Spider Man is not a company I would recommend to anyone. We were told when we signed up in June 2011 that our first treatment would be free, and after that they would come 2 more times and then we could cancel at any time. Cost was 85.00 per visit. We were charged but the spiders never went away. After the 3rd visit I finally called to cancel our service. When I told customer service why we were cancelling and that their products did not get rid of our spider/insect issue I was told they offer a service guarantee that we never used. My response was that my former pest control company never had to return twice. She got very rude, told me she would cancel and hung up on me.
I called back and spoke to a gentleman who claimed he was the "supervisor" I requested. I told him I didn't appreciate how I was treated and wanted to cancel. He told me again how I had not used my service guarantee and made me feel like it was my fault that their products failed. I told him I didn't want a refund, I just wanted to cancel my service. I was told I was bound to a contract and would have to pay 100.00 to cancel. I was not told this at the time I signed up. He then "kindly" reduced my fee to 50.00 which, after reading the other complaints, seems like standard operating procedure. Now I have to wonder if I would have been side swiped by this cancellation fee had I not called back to complain. I am grateful I did so I will not have to deal with them again. I am gladly mailing them 50.00 to be rid of them. I too would grade the Spider Man an F in both customer service and bug service. |
