This gentleman advertised a job on craigslist. I called. He set up an interview with me. He garanteed me that by paying a 50.00 for a background check, all I needed was to have a clean background, and I would go through their 3 week training and then be automatically full time employed (with placement garanteed because more than 6 companies were hiring truck driver students from the TDI-Truck Driver Institute), full time, with excellent pay and benefits. I stated to him that when an offer is too good to be true, one needs to verify and make sure if it is reliable. He assured me that if I had a clean background, I would receive the full pay for my CDL through a loan provided internally by TDI (Truck Driver Institute). IN NO TIME AT ALL, even after I inquired many times, did he say that I would be committed to ANY sort of contract or loan, neither that I needed a good credit or anything of the sort. I believe he thought I was stupid because I am a woman and I am not a native English speaker. As I kept asking questions to check the reliability of his offer, he intimidated me saying that I could not build a brilliant career through them if I did not look at things positively and trusted them. I can communicate extremely well in English and perfectly understood his words. Hadn't he garanteed me that all I needed was a good driving record, I would not have gotten into this. He insisted that all I needed was to have no criminal records so to be able to drive across the country in all the states because the hiring companies would be paying them back for the tuition provided by them. I PAID the 50.00US$ for the background check because he garanteed me that if I had no bad driving records or criminal records I would be in their student program. He then called me, informing me that I was approved only for 50% of the student loan and therefore I needed a co-signer. When I told him that this was not part of what he had told me, he simply said "ok, goodbye". I called him back. When I inquired about his lies, he dared to say that I had misunderstood him, that there is no such a thing as one studying there without a 6,000.00 pay and that I needed to put 50% of the course (3.500,00US$) down and sign a loan, or, otherwise, have a co-signer. This man presents himself with very strong, even intimidating arguments as to guide you through his lies. I spent 2 hours travelling to go there, wasted my time and gasoline, he literally lied to me, grabbed 50.00 US$ out of my packet, and then tried to see if he would get me and a co-signer to sign a thousands of dollars loan. HE HAD GARANTEED ME THAT THERE WAS NOT ANY SORT OF LOAN OR CONTRACT TO BE SIGNED BY ME, AND THAT ALL I NEEDED WAS A GOOD DRIVING RECORD. This lier, called Mr. Kenneth Anderson, at TDI, who claims to be a very successful retired man, uses expertise to lie and ommit just to steal people's time, energy and money, taking advantage of the unemployed. He has been advertising this scam as a "great opportunity" all over on Craigslist and other job search websites. He also places a phone number that is different from the TDI telephone number. That is also something I cjhecked before going to the interview, as I called the TDI and asked them if they knew hoim, and they confirmed that he is one of their recuriters. When I inquired about the phone number being different, they stated that it was because he also was a recruiter for Covenant Transport company. It was all very disappointing to me because I have always wanted to be a truck driver student and I used to admire the TDI company. They have pictures all over their walls and they convince you that their graduates are extremely successful. This man certainly uses this as one of his greates arguments to lie to people, as he lied to me.
