TCB Sports Marketing American Youth Corp Do not PAY Employees! Scam the School! Scam the Customers! Delray Beach, Florida
10th of Nov, 2011 by User239696
I took a job with TCB Sports Marketing as they conducted phone interviews to acquire the job. On Saturday, September 10, 2011 I was told that I would be having a phone training. This training was approximately 2 hours long and had at least 6 other people on the phone. This training was completed by Victor Lewis. Craig Mawson (may be spelled wrong) is the person who hired me. Eagerly I started a job with 10+ years of Sales experience that I was told I would be selling advertisements for school drug and alcohol folders and sports schedules. Seeing the schedules around town I figured that it was legit and they claimed the average rep made $80,000 a year. My first assignment was the week of September 12, 2011 in an area and a school district in which I was very famaliar. When I got the sheet of past donors there was two names of businesses on it that were already sold. When I confronted Mr. Mawson he told me it was a new account and it was to get my feet wet. So I went around and found that the local area was just scammed recently and people were reluctant to help out. The contract for the school was signed by a retired individual and this threw up red flags to both me and the consumers. When I asked about it I was told no big deal because some of the contracts are older (this was a new account?) and they would have to get a new contact name. No big deal though but it was a free service to the school so nobody cares. At this time I knew I was working for TCB, received a welcome packet from N.C.C.D. to send invoices to, and now noticed that this contract was in the name of American Youth Corp. Then I looked at the invoices of who I was representing when I wrote a sale and everything said Student Relations Inc on it. Why so many names? At the end of the week I only made one new account and it was for $299.00. According to the pay sheet give to me by TCB or NCCD or whomever I would get 30% of that, plus bonus that was given, plus $10 back for shipping. My first invoice to them was for $135.00. My second assignment was the week of September 19, 2011 and in an area that I knew even better than the first one, since the 4 headed company told me I would stay near my house. This time there were some renewals on the sheet and some of them were for $50 and the cheapest ad was suppose to be for $299. There were also already sold businesses on this sheet as well, but this time there was two past folders that I could look at. I went around and had a good week in my eyes selling 6 renewals and 4 new ads. Another red flag was thrown up though when in a couple business that had kids in the school they have never seen the folders from their kids or any of their friends. These are suppose to be free and kids weren't taking them? Anyway, I asked Mr. Mawson when I would receive my first pay check and he said at the end of week 3. I sold $520 worth of ads because they reduce ads for about anything to take their money. I qualified for 40% this week and with bonuses and other expenses they owed me $575 for week 2. I was a little more optimistic this week but still worried for multiple reasons and multiple lies I was told to this point. The third week started on September 26, 2011 and was in another well known school district and I personally knew one of the Ads that was on the renewal list. Again when I got my work sheet the total number of sales and total number of money never added up to the $80,000 average that was told to me in the interviews and the hiring process. I went to some new businesses, some old ones and started to get frustrated, but I knew that I had the one from the person I knew to fall back on when I needed to. When I went to that business my ultimate red flag was sent up. I was told they did not give any money the year before, nor would they probably do it again. When I questioned Mr. Mawson on the free ad he told me that we never give free ads, never will so they must have done something with another school. I checked and that was false as well. To try and make themselves look good they put them back on the folder again. I made $450 in sales this week taking me back to the 30% bracket and making my weekly pay for this week $175. On Friday I asked where the pay was and Mr. Mawson stated that it would be mailed today and I would get it by Tuesday. The 4th week was in a depressed neighborhood and I knew was going to be hard trucking. Monday was terrible, and this account wasn't run since 2004. What the hell? $80,000 NO WAY! This guy supposedly quit cause of a terminal illness, what was it hunger? I got my $135.00 check on Tuesday and it was from Student Relations Inc even though I sent my invoices to NCCD. As usual I got my packet for the next week on Thursday and it was for the High School I graduated from, the contact name on it was retired, since he was a friend of the family I called him. The conversation was pretty much a joke and through up the final red flag. On Thursday I called in and told Mr. Mawson I was done. He told me that I was not going to get anymore or my money for 2 weeks and I needed to send all of their supplies I had back to them. I was very upset and did yell at him. He told me a bunch of ignorant things, said things about my mother, and threatened to come to my doorstep. About an hour later Mr. Lewis Victor (Trainer) called me and we had a conversation in which he agreed with why I was mad and asked me to reconsider leaving after I calmed down. I told him to call me back on Friday and we would talk some more. Friday came and passed and I waited thinking maybe he got busy and called him back on Friday, October 7, 2011. I told Mr. Lewis Victor that I was done and I was disappointed he didn't call me back like he stated. He told me he thought I was going to call back, which was utter BS. I stated all I wanted was a handshake departure and the money that was owed to me, which was 2 weeks that totalled $750.00. He told me that he had to talk to accounting and that he would get back to me by the end of the day. Again I heard nothing and let two weeks pass by. On October 22, 2011 with the advice of a lawyer friend of mine I packed all their stuff and placed it in a confirmation Flat Rate USPS box and sent it. I copied all the contents, number of invoices, and what I sent back. Spreaded it out on the floor of my house and video recorded what I was sending. I sent the packet back costing me more money stateing that I wanted to be paid by November 1, 2011 or I was going to take further action. It is now November 11, 2011 and no call and no payments. Please if you come across any of these businesses DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY, TAKE A JOB, or anything. These people are deceitful and do not care about anything but their own pocket books. By the way the first district I was in still does not have the folders in it.
