I contracted with TaxMasters to handle my issue with the IRS and when I called I was connected to an individual whose only job was to tske my information, primarly to get my email address so he could send me their engagement contract to deal with the IRS. The "contract: was in small type and the only large type was when they required my checking account number so that they could do a direct withdrawl of $3,500.00. A week later, I received a call from TaxMasters requesting all tax filings and any correspondance from the IRS in which they were requesting 9,500.00 with penalties and interest. I faxed all the documents, filings and all the IRS letters and forms. Four months later, I received a letter from the IRS demanding payment. I called TaxMasters and talked with TaxMasters' assigned agent to my case and he told me that TaxMasters would contact the IRS immediately and have payment put on hold while they dealt with the IRS on my problem. The next day I emailed the TaxMasters agent with all the information on the collection letter fropm the IRS. Three weeks went by and no call back from TaxMasters. TaxMasters contract said that their agent would be in continual contact with me every four weeks, but five months had passed and no contact either by letter, phone cll, emails or faxes. I called the TaxMaster agent assigned to my case and his response was matter-of-fact tht he had nothing new to report and that TaxMasters was working with the IRS to resolve my case. Seven months went by and no calls, letters, emails of faxes from TaxMasters or their agent. I telephone TaxMasters and only got the agents voice mail and I left a message. I then emailked the TaxMasters agent requesting that he contact me. Three additional weeks went by - no contac from TaxMasters but the IRS sent a collection letter informing me that my refund on my 2009 tax return was being applied to what the IRS claimed I owed the IRS. No word from TaxMasters and now my refund of $4,200.00 was taken by the IRS without even a thank you. I called TaxMasters and the agent assigned to my case said not to worry that they would have the IRS refund me my refund and remove all penalties and interests. Eighteen months went past no word from TaxMasters, no telephone calls, no letters, no faxes but more money taken from me by the IRS. I fliped out and sent a letter to TaxMasters demanding a full refund since they certainly had no resolved my case and in fact never dealt with the IRS per the IRS. Three weeks later I received a letter from TaxMasters legal department telling me that I am not entitled to a refund and that they were still working on my case with the IRS. I finally had enough and I filed a compalint with the Better Business Bureau in Houston Texas and the Better Business Bureau in Tampa Florida I also contacted the State Attorney general of Texas and he State Attorney general of Florida and filed a complaint of internet fraud and deception but was later informed that the States Attorney Generals could not take on individual cases. TaxMasters sent an email to the Better Business Bureau of Terxas simply telling them that they were not a member of the Better Business Bureau and that they could contact me directly. Tax Masters has not contacted me and it is now 26 months of absolute silence from TaxMasters and they have never resolved a single thing with the IRS and I ended up having to pay the full amount demanded by the IRS. TaxMasters is a fraud and they take peoples money and lie to their clients. Why they are still in business I do not know sonce their are several states investigating them for fraud and deception. Any person seeing their slick commercial by Patrick Cox founder of TaxMasters should ignore them and complain to the station for airing a fraudulent and deceptive advertising Werner's Road Runner Cable System. In fact all televised advertisment of TaxMasters should be pull from being televised though the entire United States. TaxMasters if a total scam - a Fraud that should be proscuted for defgrauding their clients and the American People. |
