TAHITI MARINA
TAHITI MARINA Bye bye Security Deposit! Internet
19th of Jun, 2011 by User878048
I couldn't understand why, when I first moved into this seemily "nice" building, I was hearing horror stories from both current tenants, and about past tenants' move-out experiences. Mostly, the accounts were having to do w/ security deposit matters, and dealings with Eli, the Property Manager, who I was told to avoid as much as possible. Again, not really apparent to me at the time. As for the money, I was told of 3 different occurrences where the hefty security deposit paid by former tenants (upwards of $1000.00) were simply kept. A current tenant said, "Kiss your security deposit goodbye when you move out." I was told of one occurrence where Tahiti Marina had the nerve to charge a former tenant for carpet replacement, then a friend of the former tenant who was still a resident went in to see the new apt., and they had put in hard wood flooring! Again, I didn't believe it. Well, now I know the truth. I left my apartment spotless. A friend even cleaned the inside of the oven again for me, the refrigerator was spotless, etc. The only thing that was left there not stellar-looking was a cracked tub (not my problem). I had three people (as witnesses) come in and see the apt. prior to my move out. All commented on how spotless it was. Regardless, Tahiti Marina wanted to charge me $600 to "replace the carpeting." That was really interesting, being that from the day I moved in, the carpeting never saw the sunlight...I had a Chinese rug covering 90% of the living room carpeting! During the move-out inspection, the office worker, Alma, actually told me that part of the decision on what monies could be deducted would (get this), "depend on how long it took for them to turn the apt. around." Really? My money would be used as funding for them to play with and charge whatever days they would have lost revenue? My spotless apt. equalled my rec'g a little over 50% of my security deposit back, which in Tahiti Marina experiences is a "good day!" Very sad, and unacceptable.
Bottom line: The building is a scam, as other complaints noted. My apt. was falling apart, but I incurred charges. I recommend you avoid this building at all costs (and there will be costs).
