I rented space from this guy, Michael Foster of T and B Studio's (Technique and Balance Studios) at 303 w 42nd street, room 614, to teach private ballroom dance lessons. I paid him 5 months in advance to use the space... after collecting my payment, 2 weeks later he locked the doors and would not allow me into the building. He has refused to refund me money as well not allowing me to take my belongings that were left there.
I am now in the process of taking him to small claims court and have reported this to the BBB... please note that I have found out that he is not zoned for a dance studio at this space as well as has No Insurance at this time... so BEWARE! Bad Business ... what ever you do , Don't Sign Anything! I believe I am not the first person who has been swindled by this guy!

Open Letter to Jami From L
Dear Jami,
This is a final note requesting that you Cease and Decease from your constant rants about MF's T&B Studios.
From what I have understood from MF is that you are a great dance instructor, one with class and unique style.
He sincerely wishes you the best.
I know for a fact about a single rule I've learnt from MF myself as I am an instructor also, one of which I will share with you: "Students are great, students are for show - but students they come and go - Good instructors however are not so" It is NEVER productive to promote another instructor (or yourself) by way of DEMOTING another instructor.
We are all here to make the same dollar - and there is more than enough for each qualified instructor.
As far as I know of the facts concerning your heavily dramatized discrepancy which (I believe) by now have grown from minor targeting your rumor creation against TandBStudios to now what seams to become highly personal.
It truly doesn't make you look any better than MF if any of what you've been saying holds any truth whatsoever. Please note that after having been a neutral person privy to the matter for some time now, I know for a fact that TandBStudio is in no way responsible for what turned out to be youralleged unfortunate lost. Un-Behalf of MF and T and B Studios we sincerely apologize for any miss-understanding MF or T and B Studios may have caused you. MF and T and B Studios however remains consistent with its endeavours for and on behalf of instructors like myself and also you seeing that this note catches you in the right frame of mind. We all have disappointments in this life, our passions if confused can be interpreted incorrectly - I know, believe me, I have been a dance instructor for decades.
In-fact much of what you have been claiming could have been avoided - JAMI. MF has no defense against you because of his personal rule as an instructor - he will never intentionally defame or seek to pull down another instructor even in his defense. But T and B Studio is a certain brand lately a few instructors I myself included have been very proud to associate with.
As an administrator of T&B Studios I will continue to encourage by my association other dance instructors who seek a great name in which to associate with; Technique & Balance Studio Times Square NYC is a great international dance brand made for dance instructors, by the best dance instructor.
You of yourself have the status equal to that of an international brand - how you protect such brand is extremely important - by this I hope you understand what I am leading to.I have had at least on one occasion chatted with you, then over a couple emails exchange. I hope to chat with you one day again on mutual concerns for the betterment of all dance instructors. For now as far as T and B Studio is concern - I am requesting you to discontinue the unnecessary rants and make ready for a path used for HEALING and not further self-destruction- you are better than that. MF is an extremely hard worker too, you see it in the person as extraordinarily transformed in his teaching styles. He is a unique person, his goals on uniformity and the definition he's garnered to what T&B truly mean is far reaching and can be beneficial to every dance instructor world-wild of any style of dance.
I suggest that you revisit that "Olive Branch" of sort MF presented to you in the midst of the upheaval and it is my sincere hope that someway in the future sooner rather than later you will see that fights among instructors gets us NOWHERE.
I will ask the MF review the following algorithm located some of google top listing for Jami Josephson - Note: each time you post a public notice even if it appear to you to be anonymous it does help significantly to promote any rhetoric that may seam as defense even if its not posted to the public intentionally. which goes to the saying "You are what you say".

To L... You obviously do not know the whole story... so here you go...
What would you do if you offer to help someone with their new studio, bring in all your trophies, pictures, chairs, music box, and tons of decorations for them, offer to help with the operations of the studio and give free great advice for info that is worth a lot of $, buy things for the studio and give leads to events that are worth trying as well as bring in all your colleagues and students to be subjected to buy into an investment into his school, TO ONLY BE LOCKED OUT, RIDICULED AND MADE OUT TO BE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS NOTHING! AND most of all embarrass me in front of my students and other instructors I had brought in to help his school. You state “He sincerely wishes you the best.”… I highly doubt that or he would of never have done to me what he did.. Here you are wrong. If you saw the emails I was sent by Michael Foster telling me I’m worthless, a thief and a liar, and it gets worse as the emails came… Normally I would just let these things go… but unfortunately Michael has put me up against the wall. I have kindly asked Michael Foster to please refund me the money I have given him in advanced since he locked his doors on me back in Dec 15th, 2010. His reply was no. Not only did I lose a lot of money, he was not even going to allow my to collect my stuff onto which I had to bring in the police to help me recover some of my things… and he still tried to keep several of my belongings by stating they were T and B Studio property and I guess that is a loss I will have to just swallow. (That disco ball you see in the main room was mine). Scary part is that I so trusted him and all he did was embarrass me and lost me a lot of money. I signed up at Michael Foster’s dance studio (named “T and B Studio”) back on Nov.1st, 2010 and gave $500 for the month for rental to teach private ballroom lessons. On Nov. 12th, 2010 I gave an advanced payment of $2500.00 (loaned by my students) to show good faith that I was willing to rent till April 30th, 2011 and help him out with his studio, onto which I spent countless hours with him on his programs and his website and such. And on Dec. 15th, 2010, I received an email saying that the studio was closed till Jan. 1st, 2011 OUT OF THE BLUE and FOR NO REASON, leaving me to cancel all my students at last minute that day and threatened me if I came near the studio. He would not respond to any calls or emails. Due to this I have lost many hours of lessons, not to mention having to look for another place to teach during a tough time of year. I also allowed Michael Foster to hire some of my dancers from my team to use them in his “Salsa Show”. It was agreed that he would pay them $50 each or give rehearsal space for them to use… neither was given and my dancers were never paid. I have many emails and text messages showing proof that we agreed to my 5 month rental as well as the email of “Studio Closed” on
Dec. 15th…and a signed letter from Michael himself threatening me to not come near the studio that I received by his doorman. I also have several text messages showing the loss of lessons due to Mr. Foster’s lack of responsibility for not opening the studio doors during opening hours several occasions prior to Dec. 15th due to his lack of knowledge and responsibility as a studio owner. And I have many letters from my students who have given proof that we were not able to do dance lessons due to the sudden closing of the studio. Since then I have gone to small claims court to try and recover some of the money I lost… and gave him two opportunities to show up at court… onto which he did not show. Not only does he have no intention of paying me back or returning my things in the studio, he refuses to remove me off his website, which makes it look like I still work there (you’ll see I’m listed as an instructor in his instructor list, and uses my choreography reel on another page)… he uses my name and my video to lour other instructors into his scam stating that I am just suspended. I am now in the process of hiring the DMCA to have my info taken off his website which he had no permission to use and MF refuses to remove it even thou I have asked him more than several times to remove me.
L, I have been teaching dance for over 20 years and hold championship titles in Ballroom, an extensive resume in the biz as well as judge world events…I hold very high credentials and feel that Michael Foster has taking advantage of me and my colleagues. I am embarrassed by
his suspension and wish to stop him from hurting or stealing from any other dance instructors who struggle as this is our means to which we live on. L, what would you have done, if you helped someone, exposed yourself and all the people you know to a new studio, bring in everything that needed to run a studio, to only be kicked out and embarrassed as well as scammed out of a lot of money?
I have won the judgment by the court and showed more than enough proof of my loss of money and if he does not pay it, I will go as far as getting a Marshall or Sheriff to collect it. And they will find a way to collect it too! And if he doesn’t pay them then it could end up even worse. As for his Olive Branch offer, let him now pay me what I have lost (total $4910.00) to the court and remove me from his website. Then maybe I’ll consider this to be put under the bridge and go my separate way and will not report his illegal dance school to the right authorities. I am not looking to put him under, but if he doesn’t pay me back and return my things… it will leave me no choice. It’s really not right what he did to me, and I can only hope he won't do it to others… I am not one for confrontation but to just let this go without him taking responsibility for his actions is unacceptable. And L… since you have stated who I am on here and know me… feel free to contact me personally and I will show you everything Michael obviously has not as well as give you info to the 2 boys who lost there money too before me. |

This is L here again - and I am also responding along with someone - MF's Friend who has a busy Lawyer (L2).
I will begin first (L): I had no idea that you created a response. I was hoping not to see a response let alone so soon and directly from you. After-all my response was "An Open Letter" considering I could not tell who the original writer was. You wrote this false report on January 2nd and no one none of your friends answered or said anything. That’s almost 3-months ago – But in little less than a few hours you found the time to reply & In your reply you have neglected the most important points which I wrote to you about. I was neutral then, but Based on a waiver you signed I can’t say I am any longer. (I ask MF...? he simply thought it must be your report because he says you're a busy-body).
L2: But that's quite clear now Miss Josephson? I never spoke to you before and I don't know much about you. What I do hope is you will listen carefully to what I have to say to you, that way (hopefully) we would never see or meet each other.
First; you need to seek help from a professional in a field or capacity which can only be determine by that specific person who will be offering professional help to you.
Secondly; I strongly advise that you "Cease & Decease" from any and all defamation and or character assassination intentional or otherwise you’ve been ranting about against T and B Studios Times Square and its owner.
Thirdly: you may be blinded by your passion for dance but that's no excuse for breaking the law:
it is FRAUD to file a false report and go to court knowing you’ve withheld the truth. You have misrepresented yourself by withholding documents in your possession you know to make questionable your sworn statement to the court.
I am familiar with MF's T and B Studios legal matters, This one however has gone completely out of control. I know about his life and career more than any other including his wife and I know of his plans for T and B Studios by which patents exist and are also pending since 2003. He’s been at his work for many years and does not deserve this time of defamatory statements let alone the insistent harassment.
Here's what I am here to state clearly so you won’t continue with the nonsense:
Your relationship began when you Replied to an internet notice about joining T and B Studios as 1-of-at-least 5 new instructors via a web-page. I suggest you again visit that site which contains
a known disclaimer & user policy which you must read through its entirety if you have not already done so.
You promised you would be the 1st-of-5 new instructors at this new t and b Studio location and you also promised to manage the 4-additional instructors. You committed and signed a contract (See
excerpts at http:www.TandBStudios.com/JamisRANTS.html These are your signatures CORRECT?) Your rental rate of $8.53 per hour rental space or about $500 per month equals to 58.8hours per month. Over almost 2-months You conveniently and constructively discouraged other
instructors, you’ve made it impossible for the signing on of the 4-Instructors additionally needed to establish and launch the opening of the new T and B Studio location. You Touted prior to signing that you can more surety enrolled 4-instructors.
Remember Your Agreement said such studio will not be allowed to officially open unless functioning with the minimum of 5-new partner instructors.
For almost 2-months you have use all the hours of studio time regularly for up to 5-instructors. (ALL TO YOURSELF)- That’s less than $7 per hour. You've made in excess of $350.00 sometimes per day using the studio, NONE of which NOT A DIME ever goes to TBS or its management. You were warned by a written statement and letter that investors will Not support the studio if there is only 1 instructor and if that instructor is not willing to cover the minimal cost of the studio then it will have to be closed. Your immediate promised after this notice was an instructor Marlon you brought will join the studio with $5, 000.00 that also never happened.
In the middle or closer to the ending of the second month of your tenure at the studio. Investors cautioned MF that it would be closed until January 7th/2011 pending new investor funding. MF tried his best to share this info with you.
From then on up to today and by your above replies clearly you are out-off-your-mind. But still during these times you have never made a phone call to discuss with studio management how is best for you to possibly work things out. You wanted to TRASH the entire studio you and your divas.
You were subsequently SUSPENDED base on T and B Studios Rules & Regulations. Studio management at that time according to the Studio policies had all-right suspended you – and should not have leave you with an option to return. TBS is a phenomenal world brand with connections to Dance Instructors from everywhere in the world. Never would it be that TBS will RIP-YOU-OFF.
Instructors find a home with Technique & Balance Studios. YOU HAVE GOT IT ALL WRONG -
You deserved more than a suspension for your aggressive in-denial behavioral patterns.
None of your friends will agree with you if they know the truth when you signed a contract with T and B Studio and it was in-correct but you deliberately miss-represent T and B Studio by promising patrons Maritza & Jonathan they'd benefit 50% out of the profits of the studio if they paid to you an investment of $2, 500 instead of TBS? You miss-represented TBS when you promise studio time and cash payment to your student for auditioning at TBS Salsa Cabaret. (which they never did).

L: I happened to be on your side Jami on the part of seeking help, I wanted to avoid - coming back to this website or to reply to your statement. I don't want to prolong because you don't really know me. I found these statements because I simply googled T and B Studios Times Square. I think you may have spoken with the Attorney at some time?
L2: Great Dance Instructors are no good without a connection to T and B Studio so my advice to
you is to get really smart because your agreement with T and B Studios allows it to continue sales and keep 100% of all productions, re-productions of demos, Dance Cd's, information and materials for and on behalf of its instructors – I have seen the area you designated to sell the cds at T and B Studios. I will advice once productions begin that all proceeds remain with the studio. The marketing program which you signed on to will sell more cds than your Learn2Salsa website can ever dream of selling. Your signed Partnership with allows for continued sales and reproduction. You may never
benefit from these sales.
NOTE: TBS does and will NEVER delete, erase, make less substantial or eliminate materials or documentations influence by its intellectual properties.
L: TBS have helped instructors who had no place find a place to work and teach dance or benefit from the places they have performed worked for and teach dance. TBS structure guarantees you work as an instructor by first quantifying and protecting your talents as dancer/instructor.
As an instructor I sometimes travel. If I move somewhere else not close-by, perhaps another city, another state or country TBS guarantees me work as an instructor. TBS is the only support instructors need - I hope this note reaches you in a better state of mind than the last time.
