On April 18th a sales man from Sunbelt Fordtown, Albany GA contacted us to inform us he had found a pick up truck we had been looking for. A Ford 250 with a 7.3 motor. We met with the salesman, negotiated a price of our truck for trade and $3500.00 out the door included tax, title and tags. Being a Florida resident, we wanted to be sure this dealer was able to tag and title in the state of Florida. We were assured the dealer is capable and was told they have a title person who goes to Tallahassee all the time for Florida tags, title and registration. We were also assured as soon as the registration came back, we could put our tag on the new vehicle. We made loan arrangements and had our loan officer meet us at the dealership for the signing. Our loan officer brought her documentation for a lien to be placed on the vehicle. Our loan officer asked the salesman 3 times if the amount included tax, tags, title for the state of Florida and 3 times the answer was YES. The salesman went through the paperwork very quickly and we asked the question, "why are we signing this Georgia title paperwork" the salesman told us it was to gain release from the original owner for the title. 3 weeks later we receive a Georgia title, no lien was placed on the title, no Florida registration , no taxes paid. I called the dealership and spoke with the GM and Finance manager (both were very RUDE) and was informed the deal may have been that in the beginning but had changed. We were not informed of any change at the time of signing and we TRUSTED what the salesman was telling us as the paperwork was being signed. The loan officer gave us a statement, notarized, of her recollection of the conversations that the salesman had told the 3 of us 3 times the vehicle would be tagged, titled, in Florida and taxes were included in our deal. Kip also assured our loan officer the title would be sent to them direct. We took that notarized statement to the owner of Sunbelt Fordtown. He refused to read the statement. Told us "it is what it is" would not honor the original deal. The packet of paperwork we received from Sunbelt did not include all of the documents signed the day of signing. Seems something had changed in the paperwork. The owner admitted his salesman had not been honest and told us the salesman had been reprimand. The owner made no attempt to resolve the issue and became very rude himself. We were taken by an unethical dealership with ZERO INTEGRITY.. |
