We hired Steven Bonsante, owner of Northern Bright Painting to paint the exterior of our house. Per the written agreement, he & a team of 3 were to start the job on May 16, 2011. One painter showed up on the 16th of May, followed later by Steven. We had already made 2 payments to Steven before the work began, and the day the job was to start he asked for a third payment. In the process of moving our gazebo cover they damaged it. They covered the front windows in plastic & tape & primed a small section of the front of the house, and then left. They never returned to the job. We spoke with Steven repeatedly and he gave excuse after excuse and kept assuring us they would be back. A week later we were to leave on vacation and Steven promised he'd remove the plastic & tape from our windows before we left (did not), and then the day we left. He never removed the tape & plastic which melted into our windows while we were away, damaging the windows. Upon our return, he was again supposed to come do the job, but never showed up, and daily provided excused why he wasn't here working. Finally on June 15th, he told my husband he needed to withdraw from the job because he couldn't find his painters, but he would refund our money in full, plus compensate us for the damaged windows and that he would get the payment to us on Friday, June 17th. He has blown off every agreed upon time to meet so he could repay us. The total he owes us is $1,310 ($1,275 in payments we made to him; $35 for the chemicals & tools we needed to repair the windows).
