It seems like we see this in the news many times .A person goes in for his yearly inspection and is handed a list of repaires from the gararge from $1000 to $2000 and its on the increase sence the State has been coming up with new laws each year..70% of the laws have nothing to do with the saftey of your vehicle..The person who lives nex to me an elderly women had an exauste leake and was told she also needed breaks @ the tune of $1500 after i told her of another gararge to try and another $20 dollar fee she took it to another gararge..
When i was with her i also looked at her beaks and saw no problems ..But i did know she needed a muffler after parts and labor from inspection garage 2 her bill was $185 and the stories keep pileing up..we are only on of 13 states left that have this law.People in maine think that if we repeal this law all we will have will be junk cars on our roads..But when you look at states that do not have the law the worste you might see are people with older cars that are paid for.In any event even if we end up with cars that look rusty old. That in no way means the car is unsafe for the road..
I am 48 and remember when cars were checked for ball joints tie rod ends tires lights all done with a floor jack and a quicke look at stuckeral rust for fram and floors anything that can cause some one to get hurt..Has it come to the point that we all have to look good driving a 2 year old car and trading it after 70k miles..? in the currant economic times we need to get our selves out of debt. and start working on building personal income not trying to keep up with the guy next door because his car is new and yours is 5 years old
it used to be a 10 year old car was fairley new we need to get back in control the state has gone so far with there inspections the only way to fix it is to join the 37 states that repealed the law and get back to basics..The only people who will complain will be the macanics wo charge 60-90 dollars on average used and new car dealers who might have to sell a few of there boats and cut back like the rest of us but im sure bye now most maine people who have had to do an inspection this year will agree and take a look at.Care 2 petition sight-eliminate Maine vehicle inspection..
