I hired Stairpak to cut two pieces of railing, a very simple job. The railings were then being shipped to my upholster to be covered with a decorative material, as well as studded. BOTH Sandi and Rich Sr. were instructed of the exact measurements needed, as well as what the entire project entailed. I finally received the railings, and began to mount them noticing they did NOT fit in the hallway! They were each about 8.5 inches too long! I gave specific instructions on what size was needed, and they couldn't follow simple instructions. Now they were already decorated as it is NOT my upholsters job to question the size, I sent him 2 pieces of wood to be cover accordingly, and he did what was expected.
So its not like I could just have the wood now cut to size. I contacted Stairpak, Rich Sr (the owner) began making ridiculous statements such as
"We've been around for a hundred years and no one complains when we measure wrong.",
"We are never exact." or how about this ignorant thing to say "You should be happy I gave you more." He even stated he probably cut it himself. Would you ever work with someone with this type of work quality or business ethics? Not once did he say, let me refund your money. Or let me help pay for the work you had done.
IT WAS 100% STAIRPAK's MISTAKE. By the end of the conversation HE was actually rude to me, as if it were MY fault! I completely understand nothing is every perfect, I am a reasonable individual, I can live with 1, 2 or even 3 inches...BUT over 8inches is unacceptable! If they cant handle two basic measurements, how could they be trusted with anything? The total job loss was $3000.00!!!!
