SpringMASTERS CANADA Gave false guarantee Missisauga, Ontario Canada |

I paid 200.00 dollars for my driveway to be sealed in August of last summer to protect it against any damage over the coming winter. The installer guaranteed me that if the following year that I noticed any problems with the treatment to simply call the company and they would send somone out to repair or reseal the driveway. This spring when I noticed that there were cracks in my driveway I called the company only to be told that the installer should have informed me that the application would only be guaranteed for one season. I explained that the application was done in the fall and that the installer never once indicated to me that the application of the sealant was only guaranteed for the season that it was applied. When I explained to the company that because it was applied in the fall and that I basically paid for something that only lasted for one month of the season and not being told that she indicated to me that the person providing me this service should have told me that because all of their employees are told to be clear about the restrictions of the guarantee. When I told her that I was never told that and indeed the installer told me that this apllication should last longer then any other form of sealant that I would apply myself I felt assured. She apologized for the misunderstanding and said there was nothing that they could do for me but to speak to the person who did the application(who probably doesn't work for them anymore) and tell them to be more when explaining the guarantees to the customers. She did tell me if I wanted to have the problem resolved that they would send someone out to repair the job at a reduced price. I told her that basically what your telling me is that I paid $200.00 for a service that only lasted one month because I was misinformed by their employee about the guarantee and she repied yes, and once again apologized. this is definitely a fly by night company that just takes the money and runs. Whatever you do never have anything to do with SpringMasters Canada because they take advantage of their student employees and definitely mislead the customer with falls information about their services and guarantees. |

I hate to break it to you, but you paid $200 of your hard-earned money to have your driveway painted black. And by that, I mean "painted with black paint".

Okay folks...here are the facts: Springmasters Canada, now Canadian Property Stars is a professional company operating across Canada for over 16 years. The fact about the product is that it is not black paint for your driveway---that is acrylic that you buy at the store, and it actually damages your driveway underneath but you can't tell because it covers you driveway in a think layer that lasts a long time. I have seen it because I've blown a driveway and seen the cm thick stuff peel of the entire driveway (filling 10 buckets of shingle like pieces). The product they use is liquid asphaltine, a tar and petroleum based substance--the EXACT same stuff that is in the driveway. Over the years that stuff oxidizes out of the driveway and leaves it dry and rigid, prone to cracking with the heaving if the earth. This liquid tar protects the driveway by giving it back the binding tar that it loses over the years through oxidization. So yes in a couple of years...the seal job will wear off. The fact is there is no guaranteed lifespan due to an unpredictable circumstance ex. water getting to the base of your driveway some other way and expanding cracks, extreme heaving, and other wear on the surface. Another possibility is that this individual worker did a poor job of filling your cracks and sealing with enough tar. That is too bad. It happens a lot because the workers don't listen to what the company says about quality service or they just don't have it in them instinctively. So what probably happened was they sealed it really late in the season and did an ok job, and then you got some unfortunately wear that broke the seal job. So ya. Shit happens. Its not suppose to be like that. Its suppose to be 200 dollars for a professional and amazing seal job with the only stuff that you should put on your driveway. The crack filler admittedly is a band aid job. The tar is the good stuff. And it has no guaranteed lifespan due to varying circumstances, but it usually lasts about 2 year. The cracks still have to be filled every year because the expanding and contracting opens them up. I mean like you cant keep the same band aid on your thumb. you need to change it everyday. The seal job though is good. Without it your driveway goes in a downward spiral to a 5000+ dollar replacement driveway (with poorer quality asphalt). With the seal job, it basically halts that. If its the right stuff. :) So ya. Sorry about that. :( |
