Sony
Sony Sony Bravia LCD TV's with bad front panels Internet
4th of Jan, 2011 by User392620
We purchased a Sony Bravia LCD TV from Best Buy that had problems with the front panel within a year. We do not have any children or pets, we keep our house clean and we did not abuse the TV. We are not TV technicians and were unaware of the problem at first. The TV would have darker coloring and horizontal lines that would clear up after several minutes. When we described the problem we were told that the problem could be with our cable service provider, Dish Network, and we should call them. We called our cable service provider, Dish Network, and after a half hour or more of going through many options they told us that the problem was with the Sony Bravia LCD TV. We called Sony and were told that the problem could be with our cable. Sony told us to have our TV checked by our cable service provider. The cable service provider checked the TV in person and told us that the problem was with the Sony Bravia LCD TV. We did not know what was happening with the TV as the problem got worse. After several more calls to Sony and our TV now being out of warranty we expressed our frustration and told Sony that they should have known what the problem was and that they should stand behind their product. Sony had us call a TV repair facility of their choice that found the problem to be with the front panel of the Sony Bravia LCD TV.

Sony agreed to replace the Sony Bravia LCD TV if we upgraded to the next higher Sony Bravia LCD TV model for an additional $500.00 plus tax, that included delivery to our house. We agreed and were given a one year warranty.

The replacement Sony Bravia LCD TV has the same problem. Sony sent us a bad TV. We have paid $3,300/00 for both TV's and both are bad. We do not want another Sony Bravia LCD TV product. We have gone through a lot of frustration and waste of our time with two Sony Bravia LCD TV's going bad within two years' time. We do not have confidence with the Sony Bravia LCD TV product and want our money back so that we may purchase another make and model of TV.

We went to Best Buy where the first Sony Bravia LCD TV product was purchased and were told that we were probably having bad luck because the panels should last eight to ten years and we should not have to keep replacing these Sony Bravia LCD TV's and to contact Sony, the manufacturer.

Sony has made an offer to replace the front panel and give us a five month extended warranty. Acceptance of this offer would not be in our best interest since the panels should last eight to ten years and have gone bad before the warranty expired. We are requesting a full refund.
