I purchased a $430 soleus air heat/air unit from compact appliance online store with the understanding there was a 1 year warranty which there is. I contacted compact they sent me to the manufacturer (soleus air) and when I told them their unit only gave me one month of use they said no problem we'll replace it. The thing they don't tell you is that if you live east of Iowa it will cost you over $100 to pack and ship the unit back and it cost me $160 from michigan to california. This is the second unit from soleus air to go out on us. My mother had one of their units a year ago and it broke in 2 months of use. I have had to return other things throughout my life and when something is defective the the company always pays shipping on their junk product especially when they only work for a month and cost $430 so when shipping is added into the cost I have $590 into a junk unit that when it breaks I will have to spend another $160 to send it back. This company should take care of shipping on a defective product that costs this much or at least make it clear to customers that they will have a huge shipping charge when this junk product stops working after a month or two. I feel comfortable saying they will break after a month or two since my mothers broke in 2 months and I only got 1 month of use out of mine. If I save one person from the problems that I have had by using this company (Soleus Air) then that is more than anyone did for me and I sure wish that I had known what I know now about Soleus Air it would have saved me $590 which to me is a huge amount of money. I've never heard of any company making the customer pay shipping on a defective product under warranty and they were rude about it on the phone telling me too bad that's our policy sorry about your luck so buyer beware find a better brand with better service. |

I had the same issue. Five weeks after purchase my Soleus Air Heat/AC unit quit working. I wish that I would have read this sooner so that I would not have bought such a poorly made unit. I am out $400.00 and only had A/C from July 22 to Aug 29, 2011. I can't believe that they can sell such an inferior product with a clear conscience. |

I needed Technical Service in order to try and repair an outside unit . I called every day for a week, I waited several minutes to speak to a girl who would re direct my call to Chris in Tech support Chris was, of course, never there . I would leave a message which would be promptly returned and never was . Finally I asked the girl if she could verify weither or not if Chris was in fact dead or alive . She told me she sat one desk away from Chris and that he was not at his desk . I am now awaiting for a return call from the ever absent Chris where abouts unknown . |
