My husband and I signed a contract with Solar Shield in the fall of 2002. The purpose of said contract was to purchase and install a metal roofing system. After installation, we received a lifetime"Registered Warranty." Last year (2010) we needed a new piece to replace a damaged portion; only to be informed they were no longer in business. Well, again this year (2011) we developed a leak and had another roofing company come investigate. Well, it appears the roof was not properly installed from the get go. So--We are left holding the bag. We have a choice: (1) remove the old roof to fix the problem and replace the old metal (which may or may not be in good condition once it is removed). If some panels are good and some bad, the bad ones will have to replace with another brand which will not match the current color -- How much fun is that? (2) Replace the entire roof at almost double the cost of option one. Decided to replace entire roof -- good thing -- there was a lot of water damage. We purchased this system in "good faith" fully expecting it to perform as portrayed by the company. We had hoped our roofing headaches would be over for a LONG time to come. Well, that HOPE was dashed. I wonder if the Solar Shield Industries in FL has any connection with this one?? As usual: Buyer beware !!! Who do you trust anymore?
