Smart Shoppers Savings
Smart Shoppers Savings Club Charged my credit card 94.00 without my knowledge and when confronted said my trial period was up Indianapolis, Indiana
4th of May, 2011 by User837197
Smart Shoppers Savings Club offered savings in food coupons and retail store coupons as well as restaurant coupons. I signed up on the website. Nothing was ever said that I would be charged 94.00 I was called by someone who said I could get significant coupons and asked if I wanted to recieve a 50.00 coupon for Target. Which I said I did. I have not recieved any money saving coupons from them and on their web site every time I would pick a coupon it would take me to a site where I had to buy" two of the offers listed below in order to get my coupon. Each offer was something that cost money to get. so you would get deeper and deeper in debt and still not get the coupons that were promised.

I never signed up with shoppers savings and 2 charges appeared on my account. One was for $128, 32 and the other was for $4.95. How can I get these removed and my account credited?

I tried canceling my account before the trial was up, but I could not find a way to, so now my debit card was charged large amounts of money, that I CAN'T afford. I am trying every way to contact them, but they give no contact information.

I tried this, it's for their privacy contract, but I am sure you can get SOMETHING out of them

call the card that was charged and they have to dispute the charge and refund in full as long as you dont use the program they offer.i was charged $94.00 and was reimbursed by calling this phone #1-877-735-2393 it might help to have a rep. from your credit card on the line with you also so they can record the conversation

My card was charged $94.00 also. My Bank told me to call the merchant and request a refund. All the bank could give me was a phone number of 877-744-3379 and stated only "savings" showed up as the merchant name. So I called this number-person who answered asked me for my account info-told her I needed her company name since I do not know what account she was talking about and that I needed to speak to someone about a refund for their unauthorized charge. She told me she represented several companies and would need my name to find what account I set up. Gave her my name and then she wanted my address phone number email which I refused to give. Told her to refund the charge of $94.00 which she said was a voucher for a $50.00 Target card. Pay $94.00 for a $50.00 card? TOld her I wanted a supervisor-she put me on dead air hold for 5 mins and 22 seconds then weird piano music then disconnected. I called right back-same stupid music for over 15 minutes no one ever picked up call. Everyone beware this is a total scam. Still trying to get my money back.

My card was also charged $94.00. All that came up on my bank statement was "savings" and gave me a phone number-877-744-3414. I called and the first guy that I called asked for my account number. I told him I had no idea what this company was and asked him to tell me what this account was. He then asked for my first and last name, which I gave. He pulled up my account which was "smart shoppers savings club." I never signed up for this website. I told him I wanted to cancel my account and to be refunded my $94.00 today. He put me on hold for about 3 minutes which was dead air as well. He then came back and told me to go on the website to check it out and that he can't refund me. I told him I wanted to talk to his supervisor. He then put me on hold for 5 minutes. He came back and said he couldn't refund me. I got really angry with him and told him he needed to refund me because I never signed up for this account. He put me on hold again. Came back and said he would refund me. It was refunded to my account that second and I saw it in my bank statement. The next day, it was gone and I was charged again. I called once again, and the same thing happened. She finally pulled up my "account" and said there was a credit to my account yesterday and that it's up to my bank as to when they will put it in my account. THIS IS FRAUD and a scam.

Call this number if you need your money back: 877-744-3414

I took a signed up to take online surveys. One of the offers was to get a free $50 Target card. Somehow I've been charged $94.00 and have no Target Card. This whole things speaks of nothing but deception and fraud. The name of the company is Shoppers Club with the phone number 877-744-3414.

I was called by SMART SHOPPERS SAVINGS CLUB and coerced to agree to a 5 day free trial and a $100 Target gift card. Being close to the holidays, I accepted--BIG MISTAKE! I researched the company on the web and found numerous complaints about the service and usefulness of the "so called" savings. I decided to cancel my membership...but be careful. Follow these directions. Go to the Smart Shoppers Savings Club website and find the tiny letters at the bottom that say "terms and conditions". Click on that and you will find a toll free number to call customer service to cancel your membership. But be careful. They ask for your account number and then tell you they cannot find it. Ask them to research your name, phone and address for the information. Surprisingly the info will appear but, WITH A DIFFERENT ACCOUNT NUMBER. Be persistent and keep repeating that you want to cancel. It took 5 to 10 minutes for me to repeat myself as the customer service rep tried to "lower the monthly payment to $14.95 (instead of $19.95), and then again to $9.95. I was persistent, and calm, and kept my cool. Eventually she cancelled my membership. WHEW!
I'm really miffed about the change in acct/order numbers. The one originally given to me, and the one attached to my name were completely different. I'm sure that causes enough confusion for most to give up, and before you know it, you're 5 day trial is over, and your stuck with a $20 charge each month. This is a super scam and completely unethical business practice. YUCK!!! Don't be fooled!!!

Here's an addendum to my post above. Go to Smartshoppers website, thediscountsavingsclub.com (cunning isn't it; they use a website without using their business name).

Click on "terms and conditions" at the bottom of the page.

This will open a screen with the "Terms of Membership Agreement". The phone number to cancel your membership is: 1-877-398-7805.

P.S. I also find it interesting that the phone numbers listed in previous complaint posts are different than the one I used. So if this number doesn't work (maybe they change often), then check the website again that I've listed above. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I just keep telling them I don't have a Visa Or Mastercard. Which then they insisted that I do and wanted me to give them the expiration date. I said I have no Idea as I shredded all cards that I have and only use cash. He decided to stop asking and hung up.

They called me. My Englishwas not so good, and I couldn't understand people who speaks English with accent. I required to talk with somebody who speaks none accent English. Seem to they couldn't find one for me, and they finally gave up.
I was wondering that a company which sells service couldn't find a person who can speak prefect English. This company must be bad.

I recieved a post card from according to the mailing addres (Notification Center 2465 Centreville Rd, Herndon, VA 20172) offering me a gift card to Walmart/Target when i called the number
1-857-728-5164 spoke to Alan so he said. Asked how they got my info first off he claimed they did a ramdom selection um not exactly an answer - when i asked who they were he gave me 2 company names -(Red Flag) then i asked what i needed to do to get this so called gift card for $100.00, he says ooh just give us your credit card info and we will bill your back for shipping. told him i needed to research first to find out more about company he then told me name of company would appear on my back statement next to shipping charges lol, told him well let me check out company first - the then started to pressure me and warn be that if i did not give him my bank info at the time of the call i would lose my chance for obtaining gift card time was limited had to be done now. hehehe what a joke scam if i ever heard of one i then begain to search and was lead here . Please be carefull everyone guard you privacy. if it sounds too good to be true IT IS.

I got a call from them today telling me that I had an outstanding amount due on my account of $3.95. I told them I had cancelled my trial and the man told me that I had not that there was no record of the call or cxl. He tried to get me to give him my card number, but I refused. He told me that I could call back and work out a payment plan to pay 50% or $94.00 to clear the "bad credit" status. I told him that I would pay the $3.95, but I was not paying the other amount. He told me that I have no choice because I agreed to the terms. I told him again that I had cancelled and he basically called me a liar. The company does not have my card number to charge anything, but can they affect my credit rating? I did try to call all three numbers listed within this comment strand and every one of them had a message about circuits being busy and to try again later. What a crock!

This service did the same to me!! I told the lady several times that called me that I could not understand her and she mentioned the fees but said they would mail me a package to review and then I could choose my options. However, I never received any packages or coupons or information. But I DID receive deductions from my credit card of $65 twice before I got them to cancel! This is a complete SCAM!!!
