Skiwi Rentals Ruined our holiday weekend Internet |
2nd of Jul, 2011 by User184376 |
I called Skiwi rentals on Thursday June 30th to reserve a 9 seater boat for Sunday, July 3rd. (4th of July Holiday weekend) My family was in town from Wisconsin visiting for the holidays. I was very excited when I spoke to someone at Skiwi Rentals and they had their 9 person boat available for the day. I was given a confirmation number and I was told that they opened at 8am and my credit card would be charged 400$ for the boat rental for the day. I was also told that I would be able to rent tubes and wake boards when I picked up the boat on Sunday. When driving to pick up the boat, it was about 9:30am, I received a phone call from Skiwi asking me if I would still like to rent the JETSKI. I told them that my group of 9 was already on our way and that we never discussed a jetski rental, only a boat. The man that I spoke to on the phone said to just come and we would figure it out. When we arrived at Skiwi we were told that we booked a jetski an not a boat online. I never booked anything online, I did it all by phone. I was also told that someone called me Thursday to confirm, they left a message and that I never called back. I told them that the reservation was made on Thursday and I never received any phone calls. He quicky changed his story and said they never called me because I booked it on the same day that they would normally book it. He never apologized and claimed responsibility for making a mistake when booking my reservation. He never offered us any type of discout for another vehicle. He just kept saying that I should have called back, or I should have noticed the mistake when receiving the confirmation email (which they never sent). He just told us to drive all the way to Lake Mead Marina and rent from them. We spend hours driving from marina to marina and no boats were available. We are now driving home with very disappointed kids in tow. Thanks Skiwi for your horrible customer service and ruining our holiday weekend. |

That particular boat was actually booked on June 16th by another customer so I find it difficult to believe that anyone told you it was available. We were also updating our website with information regarding what we had available & what wasn't available.
By the 30th we only had 2 jet ski's left (Yamaha VXR & Yamaha FXHO Cruiser) out of a fleet of 30 watercraft. We had been informed the other rental companies were already booked out... they had nothing left.
Regarding email... our website system actually sends out a confirmation email when a booking is made... not a staff member. A lot of customers are finding confirmations in their email spam folder due to tight spam filtering. Typically, customers call us if they do not receive an email to their Inbox... we can then confirm their reservation has been logged.
We called all our customers on Thursday morning but obviously if you booked after Thu morning you would not have received a call so nobody changed their story.
July 4 weekend is a huge weekend for us, all our phones ringing with people asking information, staff are doing their best to get equipment ready & customers are being processed. Some people call us half a dozen times asking questions & by the time they are ready to book something it's already gone. Most people book well in advance. Normally we're very careful to insure customers get the craft they want.
We do thousands of rentals every summer, sometimes we're not perfect but we do our best.
We're sorry for the misunderstanding but a bad rap on "ScamInformer" is hardly necessary. You were disappointed, but there was no scam & you were not charged anything.
