TRIAL OFFER BUYERS BEWARE!!!! I ordered a trial sample of Simple Whites (teeth whitening system). According to the company, after 15 days of ordering the trial offer, my account will be charged $129. I hadn't received the item but after viewing my bank statement a charge of $129 was reflected. The initial charge for the trial was applied to my account on 10/21/10 and since I hadn't received the item, I called (on 11/4/10) the phone number that was listed with the debit on my statement and was informed that I was past the 15 day (weekends included) trial period and cannot receive a FULL refund and was told I can only get a $50 credit to my account because the trial offer was ordered on 10/19/10. I explained to the rep that I hadn't received the product and can't understand how I can be charged for something I do not have.
She (the rep) stated that an email notification goes out once the item is delivered and I also informed her that I NEVER received such notification. She then went on to tell me that the item was delivered 11/1/10 (2 days ago) but I explained to her that I hadn't received anything. She even provided some sort of tracking number and said to call the post office. She then said there was nothing more she could do other than give me the $50 refund and cancel my account. I asked for a corporate contact number to call so I can register a complaint and all she gave me was an address. VERY poor business practices if you ask me, and I am sure millions of others will atree!! The same day, after work, I went to check my mail and the item was in my mailbox. Well, at least I got the item, but I do not think it was worth the $129 I was charged, nor the $4.95 for the trial. Today (11/8/10), I looked at my bank statement and found an erroneous charge on my account from PROFIT VAULT and called the toll-free number that was listed with it. I had never heard of this company nor did I order anything from them. The female who answered said that I was enrolled in some program where I will get automatically charged for trial offers. I stated that I never signed up for such a program and asked who provided all my personal information to the company she works for. She said she was unable to provide any information like that. She said she would cancel my order (even tho I never ordered anything) and refund the charges and should show up in 5-10 business days. I guess we will see if the refund gets processed. I am hoping this claim will help other consumers from getting ripped off and at least making them much more leary about requesting Trial Offers. ALWAYS remember to read the fine print and the Terms & Conditions, and whatever Policies they provide. If I get charged another erroneous charge on my account, I will be filing another claim with Ripoff Report. |
