ShowMyPC Infected computer, corrupted computer Campbell, California
31st of Mar, 2013 by User754430
I received a few phone calls on March 3, 2013 from someone who claimed they were affiliated with Microsoft, to notify computer owners of major issues with their computers operating system, It started with windows and then Internet explorer. I told them nothing really seems wrong on my end, I don't see any notifications why should I Care. They went on about security issues and how that could affect my privacy. I said that I really don't know who you are or what you're about, why should I Trust you? They told me the information that they were receiving this was my name, my address, phone number, my computer's serial number and the time receiving the signals. I figured that they had the correct information so far and asked them to explain where would I find some of these errors. They explained that these errors could be fixed easily, but not fixing these errors Immediately will allow computer hackers and viruses access to my computer. Our conversation eventually led into the big sales pitch and finally the cost of the repair. I explained that I would consider their offer, that I didn't want to make a decision on the matter, until I had a chance to think about it. The Computer repair Tech that I was speaking to at the time became angry, obviously this was all about the money. Because I didn't want to pay the cost at that time, the computer connection repair technician scam job, decided he was going to hold my computer hostage by setting up his own password protection at start up, scrambling my operating system and disabling my antivirus protection as well. The Computer Tech said, OK you don't pay, I will call you back later, you need to restart, see how your computer runs now. On restart I was able to stop the process and roll back to previous state. But this did not fix everything this Computer Tech left behind. It's been a few days now since our conversation and we've been dealing with lockups and crashes. To make the connection with my computer, they led me to Showmypc.com. During the connection I was reading the information on the websites front page. The Computer Tech told me this was their companies' site, so this is where I made my first complaint. Reading the fax statements on Showmypc.com, they've obviously received numerous computer repair scam complaints and are aware these deceptive practices that continue today. They supply the software products that allow these deceptive practices to continue without any regards to the Pain or losses it causes. I firmly believe If Showmypc.com, does nothing to stop these deceptive computer repair scams with their software. They should be held accountable for any pain, losses and suffering it causes.
