Shower Doors by Delta Delta Glass Showers Left stranded with job half completed and a cracked tile Dallas, Texas |
26th of Dec, 2011 by User515695 |
We engaged Eddie Basset of Delta Glass Showers (Dallas,Texas) to put in a glass panel and a glass door to our shower. We paid him 50% of the purchase price up front ($440). He came on October 25 2011 to install these. The glass panel was fine, but the door that had been delivered to him by the suppliers was not the correct one (we needed one with 3 holes – 2 for a towel rail and one for the door knob; the one he brought had only 2 holes). He said that he was putting this incorrect door in temporarily so that we could at least use our shower. The correct door should be ready in approx 2 weeks’ time, he said. In installing the door, he had also cracked one of our tiles, so he agreed to bring a tiler in when the new door was ready, to replace the cracked tile, prior to putting the new door in. At that stage he wanted me to pay him the majority of the remaining 50% purchase price. We disagreed, but compromised and paid him 25% of the total ($220). That left a further $220 to be paid to him on successful completion of the job. We telephoned him several times after the 2 week period had passed; he rarely returned our phone calls. Eventually he rang me to say that he needed to remove our existing door in order to give his tiler 2 days notice to come in and replace the cracked tile. Thereafter, once the new tile was set, he said he would be back with our new door. He did not come himself to remove the existing door, but one of his men came on December 16 2011. We did not hear from him again. On December 22, we telephoned him and left a voicemail informing him that he had until 9am on December 26th to contact us with a definite plan and timeframe for replacing the cracked tile and installing the new, correct, shower door. Failing that, we informed him that we would be reporting him to various consumer websites. We have had no reply from him; it is now nine weeks since the original incorrect shower door was installed. We will now have to engage (and pay) another contractor to supply us with a shower door, as well as paying for a new tile and the costs of a tiler. The telephone number that we have been contacting him on is taken from his business card: 214-635-9423. |
