I drive a 2006 Acura Tl and unexpectedly had transmission failure on Monday August 8th, 2011. The closest Acura/Honda dealership that I could make it to was Showcase Honda located at 1500 East Camelback Rd in Phoenix Arizona (85014) I have my own private Mechanic so I asked Showcase Honda to please diagnose any and all problems that they find and I would buy the parts and have them installed. I also asked them to go ahead and flush my transmission fluid while they had my car. I agreed to the diagnostic fees and any labor costs to cover the transmission flush. I left the car and went to work. I received a phone call a few hours later telling me that the diagnosis was complete and that the transmission flush was also completed and I could return for my car. When I arrived I paid for their services and was informed that my Solenoid was bad and that was the cause of my transmission failure. I went to my car and quickly checked the transmission fluid only to find it was still black and had a strong smell, it had not been flushed, changed or even touched for that matter. After bringing this to the attention of a different Service Advisor, he also agreed that nothing had been done to the car. He said to come back at 7am the following day and he would also speak for me as a witness to the Service Manager. I came in at 7am Tuesday morning and the service guy who helped me originally on Monday had the worst attitude ( Im guessing because he knew already what happened and got caught maybe) he was very rude and said that he would refund me the money for the flush but not for the diagnostic service. He stood firm that the flush had been performed, while his co worker beside of me agreed that it had "not" been flushed. His reply? He said "He doesn't know what he's talking about"…really professional. Not once did he even apologize for the mix up. Frustrated I towed my own car out of Showcase Honda and straight to my home where my Solenoids were replaced. Same problem. I then called AAA and had the car towed to Acura of Peoria on 9190 West Bell Rd in Phoenix Arizona. I had another diagnostic ran on the car. After a few hours I was told that my Transmission needed to be replaced, "flushed" my rack and pinion and that my torque converter needed to be replaced. I was informed by my Service Advisor that a transmission flush had not been performed and that there was no way that they ran a diagnostic and didn't find any of the several problems that they found. He suggested that I contact Showcase Honda and demand a refund. I called Showcase Honda and they told me I would receive a call back. I was contacted today Wednesday August 10th 2011 by Showcase Honda. I spoke with the Service Dept. Manager who was completely rude with me and refused to refund any money. I am just shocked at not only how bad this situation was handled by the employees but also how rude they were when I confronted them with the situation in general. I just want the $122.00 back that I paid for the services that were not completed and also for how badly I was treated. I never once got loud, disruptive or even confrontational and in return I was talked to like a child and called a liar. This is beyond ridiculous and very unprofessional.

Showcase charged me $370 for a 30k service check. I signed the car over to them but do not believe the price is fair, especially given that I did not have the opportunity to refuse service to any of the items they allege to have done ie., rotate tires/balance, change tranny fluid (really necessary?), oil, filter, check fluids, and a couple other items. This is clearly a rip-off, and I do not intend to pay the full amount.
I returned when the work was done with a 200 dollar offer, they refused. That was three weeks ago. I have been without a car now for a difference of 170 dollars. During the three weeks, I have written two emails which have not been returned, attempted to recover my car with the 200 dollars and called the police when they would not turn the car over. The police said it was a civil matter.
I talked to a service guy who is in charge, and he offered 300 dollars. I said no. I wonder how long they can hold my car? I figure I could pay the 200 bill and then they can go after me for the difference. I will document and fight till the end. I would like to picket in front of their business. How many others have been a victim of sevice agents (on commission) upselling the service? |
