Shopper's Advantage TLG Everyday Value

A $17.99 monthly charge from TLG Everyday Value appeared on my credit card twice, i.e. for the past two months. Calling their phone number from my credit card statement, I discovered that the shopping service "Shopper's Advantage", a division or subsidy of TLG Everyday Value, had initiated these charges. After being transferred to Shopper's Advantage, their first Rep said the charge came supposedly as a result of a purchase I had made from a television commercial. I made no such purchase but am familiar with the aggressive marketing tactics used by some vendors or their telemarketing agents over TV. Once they get your credit card information, they slip in every possible service they can to piggy back on your credit card for as long as you don't wake up and scrutinize your monthly bill. The first Shopper's Advantage Rep from San Diego, CA, would only cancel my alleged subscription but not issue a refund. After asking to be transferred to the Rep's Supervisor in Columbus, OH, the Supervisor issued me a refund of all charges without objection. I was lucky but I think it helps to be sure to get from each person you speak with, their Rep or Supervisor name, employee number, and geographic location. Once they know they can be traced back later if necessary, they are less likely to try to give you the slip by purposely dropping the call or putting you on hold to a dead end number that never answers, hoping you will just give up and go away. Don't go away. Patience, firmness, accuracy and courtesy will win the day.
