Shelli Van Lines Shelli Vanline, Absolute Scam. Quote was a lie. Downright thieves & disrespectful staff. Fair Lawn, New Jersey |

I was quoted approx. $400 w/ $500 as an absolute max. Once at my new place, they gave me a bill for $1100. In order to get them to simply unload my stuff & leave it in parking lot, I still had to pay $755. My original quote was based on the complete description of my old & new place and amount of furniture (we didn't even take my bed, so there was less to move than I originally told them). I was given an hourly rate of $65/hr w/ an estimated 3 hours ... 4 being an estimated max. I was told there was no minimum time and when I asked why the rate was lower than competitors, I was told they had a crew based where I was moving to so once they left my house, the time would basically end (+/- 10 min). The 1 bedroom move was only a 15-20 minute drive with limited furniture & boxes. When I signed the contract, they indicated extra materials were extra, but added no price because they didn't know what they would need until done. When they had everything loaded and at my new place, they gave me a bill for $1100 cash. I was prepared to get the quoted $400-$500 cash plus tip, but was in no way prepared to more than double that amount and wouldn't have been able to anyway since you can't withdrawal that much from an ATM. They held my items hostage and basically offered to store it until I had the money, then I could pay an additional $500 to reschedule the delivery. My boyfriend and I spent over an hour on the phone w/ them (which they billed me for) and ultimately went to the bank to take as much as we could from our accounts just to get them to leave my stuff. They unloaded my items in the parking lot and refused to carry it to the door, which is approximately 80'. The mover informed me there was an additional "long carry" charge over 50' so we asked them to carry it at least 50' so it would be off the parking lot and closer to the door for us to carry upstairs since it was dark out & there were only 2 of us. He refused, left trash in the parking lot then refused to give me copies of all paperwork that I signed. I stood in front of the truck and said I wanted a copy of the documents I signed. He continued to refuse then gave me SOMEONE ELSE's signed valuation form from the previous day (guessing that individual wouldn't be real happy to know that!) In the end, I ended up paying $755 for 3 guys to carry my pre-packed bags & boxes out of my 1 bedroom house (less than 800 sq feet) to a rented piece-of-junk truck, then drive it 16 miles and unload it in the parking lot. After returning to clean my old place, I realized they left multiple items in the house that should have been taken, they left a pile of garbage at the street when they arrived and left their packing trash all over the house. I have never dealt with such a horribly run company with amazingly terrible customer service and seemingly no morals about treating people fairly and appropriately. |
