Like others I thought this was a good deal on magazines, so I did the subscription. After a month went by i didn't see any magazines coming in. I sent first payment, and waited another month only one magazine showed up. I called the company they said i had to wait they would be arriving, but i should get my payment in there so not to fall behind. I told them when i started seeing my magizines come in then i will continue to pay. Still nothing then i got laid off from my job and things got tight so i called them and told them just to cancel the magizines anyway. She told me i was still responsible for the payments, i explained about my job and she told me that i had to try to pay something, and she had to take payment over the phone either by credit/debit or prepaid cared. I told her i had nothing until my unemployment came in and i would see what i could do. that was the end of that conversation and unemployment took longer then expected and i was mad at the fact that i never did recieve my magizines even after making payments. So i never sent in the money. Not just months later but a year later I get a phone call, (today) from a man saying he is with my State Attorney's Office and he has a deal made with lawyers in New York with 716 and they will cut me a deal. All I have to do is pay 208.00 to him and he will cancel out my debt and anything else that is on my credit. I told him I didn't believe this scam and he got nasty telling me that my husband and I were going to go to prison for Federal offenses. I asked what the federal offenses were and he said mail fraud. I asked him to explain, he says "You know those little squiggley lines that go thru the stamps when things are mailed?.... thats a tracking system and it tracks when and were people recieve mail." Well i had to stop him and said " excuse me sir .... I use to work for the postal system and that is not what the lines are thank you" he immediatley stopped me and said if i was not going to co-operate he would go ahead and have the laywer in new york have me arrested. I called down to the clerks office and they ran my name and said there was not a warrant for me and advised me to call my state police post. I did and they said it was just a ploy for companies to get their money and next time he calls let him know there is a phone harrassment law in this state and that i will persue it if he persist on calling me. He called back and when i tried to get his number (cause it shows up private) he got irrate with me so I hung up. Wow wish i would of checked the internet for this company when they first called me...... hard lessons learned. |
