I was served TWO summons for the same credit problem. Not having enough money for legal help, given the fact LEGAL AID in NC was not able to provide me free legal advice in the time needed to answer the complaint, I researched online and answered the Complaints, filing them with the Clerk of Courts on time. I admitted owing a debt, but NOT to the creditor listed on the complaints. Long story short, court day arrived and before the Arbitration Hearing, Ms. Primrose talked with me in the lobby and we agreed upon a confession of judgment, provided the creditor offered a small payment plan.
We did not go into court; the Arbitrator was going to be paid between both parties, not more than $100, and we never saw the Arbitrator, so no fee was incurred. Sessoms & Rogers verbally agreed to send us balance information on the payment plan and I signed the Confession of Judgment in good faith, the creditor asking the $50 per month plan be re-visited in September of 2010. It's now November and we have received only one balance sheet from said "Law" firm. They took our money and paid interest on the debt, including "legal fees", which brought my balance down only $25 in 8 months of payment.
I have secured money to try and settle this account and have the debt cleared off my credit report somehow and this "Law" firm refuses to return my calls. We have mailed two letters and received no reply. Donna was contacted today by my wife, who says the receptionist asked for our name while Ms Primrose was coming to the phone call and suddenly Ms Primrose was "on another line."
We paid our credit card FAITHFULLY for 5 years every month before this incident; when the economy turned down and I lost a part-time job and my wife was in school, we called MNBA and politely asked for a deferment and was flatly denied. MNBA turned on us and threw us under the bus. I was sent to collections within a month. Now it seems Sessoms & Rogers, whose website makes claims to want to "help debtors pay off the money they owe," only cares about getting my $50 for LIFE.
I guess I'll be buying some legal help after all. It's funny; even the Law Enforcement Officer who delivered BOTH summons said this law firm was crooked. BEWARE. Get reputable legal help and don't sign anything without consulting a REAL LAWYER. |
