When I registered my son for the school year at Bartlett High School, Bartlett, IL, a high school in School District U-46, the high school treasurer amended his invoice from $300 for Driver's Education to $50 and told me that was what the school district was charging this year for Driver's Education. I paid the invoice that day. Today, 1/28/2011, I received a letter from School District that I owed an additional $250 for Driver's Education, two weeks after he started class. We are required to pay the whole year's tuition before school starts and now they are telling me that because the Illinois legislature allowed them to raise the tuition for Driver's Education on 1/6/2011 they are charging me five times what the fee was supposed to be. What a scam! Is this even legal?!
